ADG Darrynton and some of our other ex guys were absolutely stoked. They were hooting it up with DJ Smith after the game. That’s a good sight to see. Our guys seem to be thrilled about DJ and the rest of the staff.

How about our true freshman Kicker going 2/2 and perfect on XPs? If he handled kickoffs too, each one went thru the end zone.

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
I was at the game and all I can say is that I was VERY pleased. Charlotte had the same questions coming into this season as we had. App did a much better job of answering. I didn't think Charlotte looked as terrible as some imply but I do think we demonstrated we have superior athletes. I think they will win likely win 5 or 6 games this season.
App found rhythm on O and the game was done. Also, whether Charlotte was good or not, our D was planting their shoulder and wrapping up tackles better than I've seen in a LONG time! They are ready to play! Special Teams was disappointing given we have a dedicated coach but I would expect it to improve.
I'm officially excited! GO APPS!!!!

Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
App is 14th in all time win percentage out of 134 current FBS schools. Charlotte is 133.
Someday Charlotte will beat us, but they have a ways to go. The question is wil it happen by the time the next series wraps up. I would bet against it. It is possible to turn around in one year with the portal but is a team like that going to be able to attract enough of those players that quickly.
This is my very generic signature added to each post.

From your fingers to Gods ears. Good job!
Dubinion had the most physical running game I remember since 2022 in Texas.

I think DL is going to bring the best out in him. As a pure receiver running actual routes, this was Stroman’s best game as an App. He was never asked to do as much as he did last night. Even though he gave up on a go ball, overall I’d say it was good.

The American isn’t much more difficult than the C-USA they left. Albin is a good coach which makes today’s result that much more interesting.
Ultimately, we don’t know who is what.

We’ve seen App look much worse against softer openers.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 9:39 pmIt is still early so we don't need to get ahead of ourselves but we do look better. This team is better coached and we got more talent. We need to clean up some things but I think we are in great position. Even with Loggains being tight lipped the things that were leaking sounded much better and the game play tonight backed it up. Unlike when we heard it last year it is true right now that all of our goals are still in front of us!
Ultimately, we don’t know who is what right now. A lot of people will right Boise off but I’m not convinced they are that bad. A lot of people will now write Charlotte off. I watch a lot of football and I know you watch a lot of football.
I’m trying to rack my brain for the last time I saw App play as they did last night, offense and defense, against a peer conference opponent and I really can’t. It honestly may be the 44-0 ODU game in Norfolk in, 2018 maybe? I don’t remember the year.
But that was the last real game I can remember where App did what they were supposed to do for most of the game against a team with comparable talent levels.

Next up: DLO’s Monday morning presser & injury report. Looks like App made it out with just a few bumps and bruises.

Swann really settled in nicely. I think that deep ball to Barnes settled him in the game. Some QBs, for whatever reason, need to let it rip to get into a nice rhythm.

They all matter if you want a shot at the playoff.thesunbeltkid wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 12:19 amQuarterback needs to set his feet and throw the ball. First game jitters is fine, figure it out in the first half against lindenwood and let kohl take over. Swann can show up and own the game against so miss… make that your stamp… Boise doest matter if we smoke so miss

Liked what I saw from Kohl too. Had some zip and touch on that out to Grier over the cover 2 sinking linebacker. Beautifully thrown ball. And for his size, he moves well. You can tell he has athleticism.

In all fairness, Seattle App owned his quick take. He's a Barnes believer now.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 7:39 amAgreed. Our fan base (to no surprise) is too quick to turn on people for their first mistake. This was his first game on a new team as well. Probably a little jittery to begin with. The fumble was bad but as Dowell said, that is a mistake that happens once. Barnes is our best all around receiver and we should enjoy the heck out of him while he is here.
And oh yea, just wait till Dozier comes back.

Fair post, but must say that Albin doesnt excite me. Glad we got DLo!Bootsy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 8:04 amYes, lots of mistakes have been made around UNCC football. One could almost say they’re Niners are managing a bigger rebuild than App. Think about it: the roller coaster App rode while Shawn Clark was HC wasn’t as dismal as the disaster known as “the Poggi Experiment.”Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 7:14 amAll jokes aside is there a more overall jacked up program than Charlotte? They have made one horrible decision after another to include conference affiliation decisions to stadium design to coaching change decisions. Do they really think it’s working? I’ll admit though for the size of their stadium it is kind of cool based on when I went to the last game we played there but damn it’s small. The fan base is blah and it’s simply a big city commuter school. They simply don’t fit in big boy football.
Hiring Albin was a solid decision and, let’s be honest, more than a few of us would’ve been happy to see him as App’s HC. We did see some 49er playmakers on both sides of the ball last night. And you have to give it the UNCC players: even when they were down big, they didn’t quit.
What’s my point? Like App, it’s too early to know the trajectory of UNCC this season. But the UNCC administration is finally making some sound football decisions. Who knows what will happen down there?
On to Lindenwood.

That’s great to hear! It’s always hard after a game to go through each comment. I missed that follow up so that is my fault.AppDub wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 9:39 amIn all fairness, Seattle App owned his quick take. Re: Game Notes vs Charlotte and game discussion
Charlotte is terrible and that makes evaluating this ASU team a little difficult, but we're a much better team on both sides of the ball this year. I was impressed, what I saw last night is better than I expected.
