It will likely get worse before it gets better.
Until these kids get solid advice from adults on consequences that linger by transferring by choice, it isn’t going to get better.

You have much more faith in those " adults" than I do.

Sadly, I do not.

I mean in this case it clearly worked out for Jalen, he’s getting paid more than he would at App AND he’s a significant contributor.

While he would get plenty of nfl consideration at App there’s no doubt if he’s successful in the SEC that =higher draft position=more money

Toledo just had a corner go in the 1st round. Conference doesn’t matter if you’re in FBS. If you can play, you can play. Jalen made a smart money move because at 6’1 230 lbs, he is going to have a tough time getting on an NFL roster, especially as an edge rusher.

Someone like Nate Johnson could stay at App, develop, test very well for scouts and probably get a combine invite, and he would get drafted in the 1st round if he was a 1st round talent. He doesn’t need the SEC to get to the league. Joey also doesn’t need the SEC to get into the league. Kaedin won’t need the SEC to get into the league.

If you have the measurable and the production, you will get a shot and many would be drafted early. If you aren’t drafted early, it’s not because you were in the Sun Belt.

3,600 players entered the portal in the 2023-2024 academic calendar year. College Football is toast.

College Football is not toast, it just makes betting harder than before.

Portal betting may be the future. Who leaves, who stays, and where they go.

Is the portal a study in todays world of instant gratification and discontentment or a fear of missing out? I don’t think that college football is toast. Rather it is moe likely entering a perpetual state of flux due to the constant barrage of incoming and outgoing talent which will lead to a lesser quality of product on the field.

You are scaring me.... I am agreeing with you a lot.

I think App State is better prepared than most.
If we find a money honey hole.... watch out !!

But in the meantime, do our best with what we have...... one semester at a time

It may end up like a draft one day where the p2's set the price for the first round draft, second round and so on. Your college (APPSTATE) can't draft in that round unless they can pay the player the amount associated with that round. Who knows at this point where it is headed.

I feel for the high school kids. In my opinion, the high school kid looking for a scholarship is going to have a hard time finding it. Why should App waste anytime on a high school prospect....we would just be training them for someone else and locking a scholarship up that could be used on a portal transfer.

That may not be the case at all. Teams that have tried to build their entire team through the portals have not done well in the long term or even short term. Money might be the motivation for some, but not all.

App Should continue to do well. Besides, when a player enters the portal that is another opportunity for someone else that would not have had that opportunity. Not everyone that enters the portal is a good player.
