Re: Recruiting, 2013
Thanks AG78 and firemoose (and others) for keeping us all updated. It looks like a great weekend and let's hope it keeps up throughout the month. Anyone have any idea as to how many we will or can sign? I have had my eye on Tshumbi Johnson too and hoping he gets on the truck with us.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I was told a while back that we would be taking between 14-16. Not sure if that has changed any but that was the number at the first of December.eggers76 wrote:Thanks AG78 and firemoose (and others) for keeping us all updated. Forgot to add. That is the number if no FBS move is announced and/or it's after the deadline where we would not qualify for additional scholarships.

App widout Sims McElfresh recently tweeted: "Shoutout to App State's newest commit and QB Taylor Lamb. Welcome to the family"
That would be one-time South Alabama commit QB Taylor Lamb (6-2, 200) of Calhoun High School in Calhoun, Ga.
Highlights:
Yup, that's Bobby Lamb's son:

You can't make this stuff up! If the kid ever fails on a 2-point conversion, the MMB might implode.

Irony aside, watching his highlights, this kid is big, strong, quick, and looks like he can throw the ball 60 yds without much trouble, reminds me of JJ, which is a good thing.

He's the Georgia Gatorade player of the year, holds a 3.7 gpa, and looks to be a great athlete.
He was originally committed to South Alabama.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I agree. He definitely has an arm on him and the hudl.com profile lists his 40 time as 4.65, which is certainly quick enough to be a threat on the ground. 6-2, 195 right now so I'm sure he'll be 200+ by the time he gets in the mix.moehler wrote:Irony aside, watching his highlights, this kid is big, strong, quick, and looks like he can throw the ball 60 yds without much trouble, reminds me of JJ, which is a good thing.
Wouldn't be surprised to see him take a redshirt this year, another nice pick-up by the staff. Won a Georgia 2A State Title as a junior and was named 2A Offensive Player of the Year. As a senior, he was named the Gatorade Georgia Player of the Year.

Highly decorated prep career, not sure what happened at South Alabama but I'm glad he de-committed.

ATH Lee Wright (6-0, 195) of York Comprehensive High School, McConnells, S.C., appears to be deciding between App, Toledo or Kent State, according to a Twitter post from one of his teammates.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Seems like we may be close to our 14-16 grants many think we have this recruiting season. Did we get too many commitments the first week?

I'm counting 11 if we count the Cowan twins, nine if we don't.Saint3333 wrote:Seems like we may be close to our 14-16 grants many think we have this recruiting season. Did we get too many commitments the first week?

Kid's got some skills on both sides of the ball. Good vision in the return game.AppGrad78 wrote:ATH Lee Wright (6-0, 195) of York Comprehensive High School, McConnells, S.C., appears to be deciding between App, Toledo or Kent State, according to a Twitter post from one of his teammates.

Are you not counting Hunter and the punter in that number?AppGrad78 wrote:I'm counting 11 if we count the Cowan twins, nine if we don't.Saint3333 wrote:Seems like we may be close to our 14-16 grants many think we have this recruiting season. Did we get too many commitments the first week?
I have 13, the 11 you listed above (not counting the twins) and adding Lamb and Nunn.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I'm guessing Hunter and McGuirt aren't on scholarship. Hunter has been out of football for a while and McGuirt didn't show much on video from his high school days. But I could be wrong.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I'm getting 12 counting Lamb and Nunn and not counting the twins. The long snapper is a preferred walkon. And that is counting Hunter and McGuirt.Saint3333 wrote:Are you not counting Hunter and the punter in that number?AppGrad78 wrote:I'm counting 11 if we count the Cowan twins, nine if we don't.Saint3333 wrote:Seems like we may be close to our 14-16 grants many think we have this recruiting season. I'm not sure the 14-16 number is set in stone. I haven't asked anyone about it in over a month and a half. It could have changed. I do know we have people coming in the next two weekends at least but not sure how many. I think this weekend was the biggest though.
