Re: Swann starter
IF there isn't a QB1 yet and it's still a race for 3 QBs, that's awesome, my opinion. That "should" mean we got 3 great QBs fighting for the starting job. Swann shouldn't have any issue with the teams we play this year. He did start for Vandy and played the SEC schedule. I like we have 3 guys fighting for that spot. If one should get hurt, QB2 should step in and not miss a lick. Again, this is just my opinion.

As long as it doesn’t mean we have 3 bad ones with nobody able to separate and they are what you said then I love it as well. If we have 3 good ones then one injury won’t make or break the season.AppState89 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:47 amIF there isn't a QB1 yet and it's still a race for 3 QBs, that's awesome, my opinion. Re: Swann starter
I expect that coach knows who’s going to start, he may be waiting to see if another player can change his mind, but I doubt that he doesn’t know at this point.
Of course, there’s some strategy being utilized here by not naming a starter yet. Last I heard, Charlotte hasn’t named one either.
Either way, we’ll know soon enough.
I would agree that it’s a good sign if the competition is so close that he hasn’t decided, but I still think he knows already.

I think Charlotte named the Chapel Hell transfer as their starter yesterday.KentHogan wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 8:16 amI expect that coach knows who’s going to start, he may be waiting to see if another player can change his mind, but I doubt that he doesn’t know at this point.

I think that we have 4 guys that can run this offense. None of them are perfect as each one has blind spots. But all four can get the job done so we should be OK either way.

Re: Swann starter
I feel like it's all fluff. They were telling HS coaches it was Swann deep into the summer.
Either something happened, Kohl stepped up big time or DLo is just using coach speak.
I'm with 94, we've got a couple that can do it though. It would be cool to see a goal line package with Kohl if we can block it up.
What would our tush push be called?
The "kush" push? Ha!

Re: Swann starter
i'm hoping whoever #2 is gets some run vs Lindenwood. Or UNCC if circumstances dictate which I don't think we can expect.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 8:48 amI feel like it's all fluff. They were telling HS coaches it was Swann deep into the summer.

Re: Swann starter
I don’t find the odds all that high that in the transfer portal era App has 3 high quality QBs on the roster worthy of starting. I would say that Noah Gillon challenging for the starting spot as a true freshman provides a good bit of optimism moving forward, but at this point, call me skeptical of the QB production we’ll see this season. Though I do hope I’m proven wildly wrong on Friday night.AppState89 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:47 amIF there isn't a QB1 yet and it's still a race for 3 QBs, that's awesome, my opinion. Re: Swann starter
Yeah, I just don’t get why Swann wouldn’t be getting all reps with the 1’s at this point if this were all the case, but who knows.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 8:48 amI feel like it's all fluff. They were telling HS coaches it was Swann deep into the summer.

Re: Swann starter
I suspect we won't see in our starting QB what we have seen in our last two QBs. That doesn't mean we can't have a successful season, it just means that the QB may not be the headliner.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:29 amI don’t find the odds all that high that in the transfer portal era App has 3 high quality QBs on the roster worthy of starting. Re: Swann starter
I'm sure we have 3 good ones. The kid from Iowa State looked GREAT at the spring game. Swann has played against SEC teams, so we should be good.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 7:52 amAs long as it doesn’t mean we have 3 bad ones with nobody able to separate and they are what you said then I love it as well. Re: Swann starter
Well the 4th stringer is a former Sun Belt starting QB who lit us up for nearly 300 yards. Considering that is the baseline, I am confident in the abilities of the 3 above him.Yosef10 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 9:29 amI don’t find the odds all that high that in the transfer portal era App has 3 high quality QBs on the roster worthy of starting. He threw the ball 41 times and had a 56% completion percentage. I would take a look at the entire 2023 game logs.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 26, 2025 10:07 amWell the 4th stringer is a former Sun Belt starting QB who lit us up for nearly 300 yards.
