Love is always displayed differently.
I agree with both sides..... I hate losing, like most of us. App State football fans hate losing.
Some express it outwardly with a fresh scar, some keep cheering, some stop cheering, some complain ( in a cheering way). We love to win and WE will win more but we have moved to the big league and to WIN in the big league change is a must.......... so
Merry Christmas to all App State football fans !!
And cheers to a New Year of growth and change.
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Game week in Boca
My dad told me when I was just a boy, to do more listening and less talking. That advice has served me well.
I will just say this. I find no fault with those who think that 5th best winning percentage is good but also no oroblem with those who believe in going for 4th and 3rd..... Striving to do better requires critical thinking, even self criticism. Thats not negativity, its positivity well placed. In this endeavor, there can be no sacred cows ,everyone is fair game .
Before we get cozy with a 9 or 10 win season, we should examine closely who those wins came against and likewise with the losses.
We can do better! We should expect better and make it known. Otherwise, silence may be mistaken for approval, and then its 8 wins and then 7......
Im not advocating firing anyone but I am advocating an attitude and expectation of continuous improvement.

Re: Game week in Boca
My only problem with the ones that say we can do better is they are the same ones that will complain no matter what.
4th and 3 and we go for it: "God that was the dumbest decision ever! Fire Clark NOW!"
4th and 3 and we punt it: "Really? You punt it there? Why would you do that? Clearly Clark is in over his head and he needs to go!"
Obviously this is an exaggeration, but, unfortunately on social media, it's not terribly far off.

I don't think ANY of us like losing, even just one game. I don't disagree with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. I don't have a problem with high expectations as long as it is tempered with REALITY.
However, I have read a lot of venom since the game that went way beyond these things and I'm just going to leave it at that. App State is better than that.

Looking at the season as a whole, 10-4 and an East division title is nothing to complain about. Looking under the hood, I do wonder how many of those games were "complete" games (were we played well all four quarters). Beating ECU, Marshall and Coastal were good wins. We didn't seem to have a "bad" loss. But was there a game where anyone was impressed with our play from start to finish? I'm genuinely curious.

I believe the statement Saint made is accurate, that person yelling that almost certainly did NOT mean FU or anything else disparaging to CSC.

Re: Game week in Boca
How do you measure continuous improvement is my question to those that have expectations? Wins and losses? That has a ceiling and at some point, you have to dip. Continuous player development? At some point, a player reaches a ceiling as well. Backups aren’t always going to ascend to starter status. And young guys will often get better, but they aren’t interchangeable. As an example, Roof is very good and started the year as Harrington’s backup. But he can’t do everything that Harrington can do which changes what you can expect from each of them. The next guy up to take Jolly’s spot, isn’t a Jolly clone. He is his own man with different strengths and weaknesses. My point is that there are a lot of things that aren’t being factored in when making opinions and criticisms. An understanding of why something happened isn’t acceptance. I agree that it is reasonable to be upset over a performance and criticism is part of the gig, I guess. But as I previously stated in the thread, some of the people on here are criticizing chess with a checkers mentality.hAPPy4APP wrote: ↑Tue Dec 21, 2021 3:03 pmMy dad told me when I was just a boy, to do more listening and less talking.
