On paper, I agree with you. I'd really like to have some game experience at the rb. Halloway had a chance to get experience when our rbs were injured earlier in the season. Not so sure that would have been wasting a "freshman" red shirt (if that was the actual case or maybe he just wasn't ready) as much as it was gaining needed experience were there will be "zero" game experince carrying the football come September, especially when we can recruit a running back every single year.ASUPATCH wrote:Between Tysean Halloway and the transfer from Utah, RB is actually looking pretty good at this point.asutrnr81 wrote:We need a running back BAYD!

Doubt Scott is willing to pin the success of this team on a freshman and transfer who was a walk on. We need more depth.ASUPATCH wrote:Between Tysean Halloway and the transfer from Utah, RB is actually looking pretty good at this point.asutrnr81 wrote:We need a running back BAYD!

True. 6 RBs on the roster, 4 schollie guys, 1 is a former LB, the other was a QB last year. In 2007, App went through 5 RBs from injury alone, Moore, Welton, Radford, Baker and Jackson. I may have even missed one.Kgfish wrote: Doubt Scott is willing to pin the success of this team on a freshman and transfer who was a walk on. We need more depth.

Only Frazier, Holloway and Magloire are scholarship players. Looks we have an additional scholarship available. Derek Evans is no longer on the roster.GlassOnion wrote:True. 6 RBs on the roster, 4 schollie guys, 1 is a former LB, the other was a QB last year. When you have limited resources in recruiting, you have to be realistic about who you can get. You can't use all your energy trying to recruit pipe dreams. Do you see App trying to recruit against Alabama? If you don't understand that, then I am not sure how to explain it to you.bcoach wrote:Wow I think they have a problem. They give up because of facilities? Maybe it's not the facilities but more their attitude. I sure wouldn't want to play for someone that gave up that easy.

Looks like two or three players have left the team per the roster on goasu. That means we have 18 or 19 grants.

That's why I was saying that I didn't believe that 14-16 number was set in stone. I was told that just after the season ended. Even in a normal year teams still tend to lose a player or two and this wasn't a normal year. I thought we might have a few more but was waiting for a call back with a better number.Saint3333 wrote:Looks like two or three players have left the team per the roster on goasu. Re: Recruiting, 2013
Well I think that if a kid is being recruited by Alabama we are not even in the conversation so your example does not make a lot of sence. In the case above they were talking about a kid that was looking at us and whoever the other team was. It does not look like we give up on a kid who is also looking at a Toledo or any other lower level FBS school.B&G wrote:When you have limited resources in recruiting, you have to be realistic about who you can get. That is because App has better facilities than most low level FBS schools so they can be in that conversation. Maybe you are underestimating your own school.bcoach wrote:Well I think that if a kid is being recruited by Alabama we are not even in the conversation so your example does not make a lot of sence. Maybe you are underestimating our coaching staff. It ain't all about the buildings. The facilities are great but we just happen to have, and have had a great staff. We pulled some great players and won a championship in the old digs.B&G wrote:That is because App has better facilities than most low level FBS schools so they can be in that conversation. Re: Recruiting, 2013
Ok sure. 18 year old kids don't care about little things like facilities. Our coaches are so much better than other coaches. I'm sure that's it.

Trust me...they DO care about our facilities. We have some of the best in the state....I've heard it from several players over the past few years and from their parents too.B&G wrote: 18 year old kids don't care about little things like facilities.
I do agree with you we have AWESOME coaches.

My bad. I have a hard time keeping up on this board sometimes. All the bitching back and forth, it's like watching a ping pong match or some soap.GoApps70 wrote:They were being facetious.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
We won 3 NC's with the old digs. Indoor facility was open, but the new seating and Athletics Center came on line after 2007. The "great staff" was reduced to a good staff with the loss of Galloway and Satterfield, then to a fair staff with the departures of Wiley & Elliott.bcoach wrote:Maybe you are underestimating our coaching staff. Think you are being generous on your staff ratings.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Facilities matter but in the end what matters to most kids is who will coach them. No doubt it's better to have great facilities but it is even better to great coaches. As was pointed out, we won national championships without the current facilities. When our coaching staff fell in quality we tended to suffer. So, for me your coaching staff is more important than your facilities.
