I don't care about the stars but I do want to know who else is recruiting them. It may not be a sure fire indication but I have more confidence in coaches than some self appointed internet talent judges.

78 and MBA - I agree completely that the recruiting stars don't mean much at our level. I remembered that Quick and Price had no stars. That tells me enough right there!

As suggested, I am also interested in who else is recruiting our prospects.

No one is arguing that point really, just the quality of our coaching staff in the past. We sure have a great group of coaches now it seems.

Taylor Lamb and Beau Nunn are here, and I've got a feeling Rashaad Townes is here, too. But I don't know of any non-committed prospects. Parker Collins is at Youngstown State. Deondre Singleton is at Duke. Tshumbi Johnson is at Cincinnati. David Gaydosz is at Akron. It's possible Zach Riggs moved his Feb. 1 visit to Boone to this weekend (he was hoping to), but I haven't heard if he did. I'm guessing our Rivals site has more details. Firemoose might have more details after he talks with his sister.
Lamb and Nunn are here. Townes was here last week. My sister spoke to him and his parents one on one. There are two uncommitted that I was told about yesterday and it was put on Rivals today so I feel more comfortable with giving their names. Tyrell Brown (5'10" 190 DB/RB of Lovejoy High School in Hampton GA) and Colby Gossett (6'6" 290 OL of North Forsyth High School in Cummings GA). There are supposed to be 5 others if what I was told is correct but that number wasn't a certain number so I don't want to speculate until I am able to confirm. I was told that 2 of those others would be walk on players. I will have a better idea tomorrow after the lunch.

I'm hopeful that a couple of these others and that some of the ones for next weekend are DL players, especially DT or NG, since we are running the 3-4. Was also told that we are really looking for a RB since we lost one of our biggest targets this week. Fernando Van Hook committed to Central Arkansas so the big board is being reloaded. We are also looking to get one more QB in case Johnson stays with his commit to Cincinnati. That's not as high up the board as RB is now but is still up there. If I hear anything else I'll let everyone know.

Brown reminds me a little of the film you posted for another recruit, Lee Wright. He is very quick to the ball. Looking around the web, Lovejoy is a loaded team that finished state runner-up in GA's largest school classification. He apparently visited UAB last weekend and also holds offers from Coastal, Furman, among others.

Colby Gossett could be a nice get. He seems a bit raw on tape but you can't teach 6-6, 290. I'd like to see what Coach Ledford can do with him.

Anybody have any info/comments on Ken McDowell? His last two years at Grey's Creek he rushed for over 4,000 yards and 55 touchdowns.

We do need more depth at RB but if Holloway stays healthy, I believe the feature back job is his to lose unless we really get a big-time signing in this class. He is only a redshirt freshman but graduated early and has been with the team since December 2011.

The back-up job seems pretty wide open though. Frazier, Davidson and Magloire will be in the mix and when he was originally being recruited, I remember hearing that Marcus Cox was being looked at as either a slot receiver or running back.

Has anyone heard what position Cox is expected to play? On tape, he looks like a talented ball-carrier and with all the depth we have at WR, I'd think he could be put in the mix at RB as well.

Yes we need a RB but rarely if ever does a freshman running back make an impact. What we have, is what we will probably go with.

OK…I can give a little more information, not as much as I would like but I am working on it. There were 7 recruits today. Lamb and Nunn were the only commits. As I said last night Tyrell Brown and Colby Gossett were also there. Beau Nunn’s brother, a TE walk on prospect, was there too. That leaves two others and I am still working on confirming who they were. I hope to have something on that later tonight.

Just for information, was told that the next two weeks will go as follows. Next week’s group will again be mostly potential scholarship players with a couple potential walk on players thrown in. The final weekend will be walk on and backups for any possible de-commits. They seem to have backups for most of our commits just in case but are really working the RB position hard and are still talking to a couple athlete/QB’s to possibly bring in. It’s still pretty fluid right now. I still want to see some DL’s brought in and hopefully we will have a few next weekend. I will update as I find out any info.

Moving to a dedicated 3-4, we really don't need but maybe one DL player. Woody runs a different 3-4 than Stale Dale ran. We could use maybe a DE or two.

NT position has an overflow of players
Soph. Burns
Soph. Bronson
Soph. Millhouse
Fresh. Darian Smalls
Soph. Devante Harris (I don't think he has the quickness off the edge to play DE in Woody's system)

DE position is a little weaker
Jr. Blair
Soph. Greg Hall
Fresh. Tashion Singleton
Jr. Duece Robinson

We are super thin at LB, I expect one of the DBs like Henry Barnes, Middleton, or Alex Gray to add some weight and move to OLB

Woody in the past has used smaller very quick players at the DE spot.

It sucks that Adam Scott and Karl Anderson gave up their last year of football. Glad they got degrees but both would have been starters in Woody's system. The more I look at our D the more nervous I get about the front 7 in particular.

I was referring to DE's more than DT's or NT's. Sorry, I should have been a little more specific. They are working on LB's also. We do have a few players who would be able to move in, as you pointed out. Not knowing exactly who the DC was going to be slowed us down a bit. It's moving now but I agree that we are going to have to shuffle some now that Woody is the DC. Anytime you change a coordinator it is going to take a little time to get their type of player in the system. Said the same thing about Scott last year.

Here is a potential RB recruit who could step in and contribute from day 1. Malcome slated to be the starting RB for UGA this year, but then the NC boys gurley and Marshall flexed their muscle. I think we should at least talk to Ken Malcome as he will be looking for a FCS landing spot so as to not lose a year of eligibility.
