Parker Collins just tweeted ten minutes ago about Cincinnati is coming to visit him today. Hope we do not lose him to a bigger school.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Great link about Appalachian commit Lee Wright from York, SC. As previously mentioned on the board here he was named the Charlotte area Defensive Player of the Year. This is the full story and interestingly enough he just switched over to defense this year.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I believe if you read exactly what I said in the whole post I said "it doesn't make it right". I happen to agree with you. I also spend nights reading twitter posts from our current players, commits, and prospective recruits (have over 80 twitter accounts in a bookmark folder right now), looking for little nuggets of recruiting information to give to the board. Unfortunately we would have to cut a whole lot of people if we go by what they say on Twitter.HkyMtneer wrote:I'm still not out. I really don't care what the kid brings to the table, I say run. I guess I'm one of the few that believe that by 17/18 you either have character or you don't. I refuse to believe that a 17/18 year old "kid" doesn't know that he is being watched, that his tweets are being watched, that he doesn't know what is proper from what is not. I don't really care that a lot of kids talk like that, doesn't make it right. I can't use the "N" word so neither can you...even if you are an African-American. I don't use the word "honky" or "cracker" to refer to myself and I'd be offended if someone of another race, or even my own race, did as well. If I refer to my friends as such, then feel free to call me the loser that I am.firemoose wrote:I agree on the tweets. Haven't been real thrilled with what he posts but a lot of them do that. Doesn't make it right. And it really doesn't matter much as he is in Cincinnati this weekend.Saint3333 wrote:Not impressed with his tweets, sounds like trouble.
EDIT: Sorry Saint..I was on the phone when I was typing that reply. I meant to add that I wasn't commenting in the previous post on him as a person, only as a player. I not real impressed, just like you, with what I am reading. Sometimes it's hard to tell since a lot of kids talk like that these days but the jury is still out for me.

A writer for the Richmond Times-Dispatch recently tweeted that RB Chris Simpson (6-1, 200) of Lee-Davis High School in Mechanicsville, Va., has accepted an invitation to walk on at Appalachian State.

Someone on Twitter is trying to talk Kennan Gilchrist into Air Force. He has had an offer from them for a while. I liked his reply.

The Chattanooga Times-Free Press writes about Taylor Lamb's decision to decommit from South Alabama to Appalachian State.

What timing for this article to come out. I emailed Bobby re: Taylors decision and he sent me this email back:
"He has always admired the great atmosphere at App and he wanted a chance to win. App will provide him that opportunity. He turned down USA, S Miss, Memphis, Ark ST and N. Ill. He is probably the only 18 year old that would choose App over those schools and that is because he understands the importance of football at App. My only regret is not getting to see him play, but the last 2 years have been awesome!!! Thanks, BL"

One of the players we have shown interest in -- DB Dewan Olive-Abinojar (5-9, 170) of Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor, Mich. -- says in a tweet that he has gotten an offer from Connecticut. The guy may be small but he's a tackling machine.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Credit Firemoose for uncovering this one:
According to a Twitter post, RB David Emmanuel (6-0, 185) of Pasco High School in Dade City, Fla., has interest in Appalachian State, North Dakota State, Florida Atlantic and Memphis. He is visiting NDSU this weekend.

Pasco High is a 5A Florida high school. That's the rough equivalent of 3A ball in NC. This kid (#8) in the video link has some really slick balance and moves in heavy traffic. I'd like to see him in Black & Gold.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
I don't think so, but it's 1 below zero in Fargo; expecting a low tonight of 15 below with a wind chill of 27 below. Ouch! They'll try to sell him on national championships and the indoor FARGODOME. We can hope the temps alone will stump a Floridian. Maybe he'll be counting the hours until his flight back to Dade City.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
Not sure if this has been posted but Michael Julian has committed to Toledo:
http://appalachianstate.rivals.com/cont ... ID=1464422
I am pretty surprised by his choice, to be honest. I'm sure he will get some relatively early playing time over there but going from Hilton Head to Toledo will be quite the adjustment. I can't help but wonder whether being FBS would have made any difference but I'm not sure it would have. He held offers from ECU and Marshall as well, although he may not have had the same potential for early playing time since they both started sophomores at QB.

Re: Recruiting, 2013
The word "classy" gets thrown around a lot on these message boards, so I tend not to use it, but I think that is a downright classy reply from Bobby Lamb.MDaniels84 wrote:Kgfish wrote:AppGrad78 wrote:The Chattanooga Times-Free Press writes about Taylor Lamb's decision to decommit from South Alabama to Appalachian State.
