We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Am I deluded?
I agree with the above. I know I'm a total homer, so I really hope it's not delusional. I absolutely believe the talent is there. If the intangibles come together, this is going to be a very special year!

Re: Am I deluded?
I don’t want to just “Beat ECU”, I want a “Beat down”
Like Dabo said, leave no doubt. I want the 2021 team to play like they are on a mission to prove we are a serious National Player and the cream of the SBC hands down.

Re: Am I deluded?
Do you have a link to ECU interviews you mentioned above?AppFan11 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 11:49 amFor whatever it’s worth, I listened last night to the DC for ECU and he said that while he wasn’t as familiar with Duke’s team, that Chase has more weapons around him at App, more like Clemson than Duke. Their HC said when I look at their (App) two-deep (can anybody find our two-deep?) I see Sr’s and JR’s….. they know how to prepare.

Man, THIS. For once let’s make a statement. I would love nothing more than to just hammer ECU and send a message to the G5 right out the gate.

Re: Am I deluded?
I am sure there was some sarcasm in your post (Coach Yost) and that is fine. But for those who don't remember here is a link to just one of Dabo's comments.

"We had two goals tonight, one was to get the job done and the other was to leave no doubt. We felt we left a little doubt in the past couple years." Swinney said.
In my mind, that is the attitude this team should bring every week. They are not mutually exclusive goals. We want to show everybody we deserve to be included in any national discussion on best teams in the country.

Re: Am I deluded?
Not so much sarcasm as quoting the popular movie "Remember the Titans". When they're playing the racist coach Taber. Yost looks at Herman and hollers "Run it up Herman, leave no doubt".AtlAppMan wrote: ↑Thu Aug 26, 2021 4:17 pmI am sure there was some sarcasm in your post (Coach Yost) and that is fine. The thought was, that's where Dabo got this phrase from. I yell it every time we get a decent lead in Kidd Brewer. Someone behind me got the reference and when I yell "Run it up Herman" he replies with "Leave no doubt".
Its a beautiful thing.

As I was about to say…Actually I can’t completely disagree with most of what was said here. Now I’m worried.

Re: Am I deluded?
It has been many years since I joined the board. . . but wasn't there a required check boxed that you had to be deluded to join this board, or is that any sport fan board?GreatAppSt wrote: ↑Thu Jul 19, 2018 10:10 amI just can't shake the feeling that our first 2018 game will be something special. . I haven't felt this way about any of our big opponents in many years.
What say ye? O am I leading myself up a garden path with rose colored glasses?

I believe this year may be different than last. We played flat in a lot of games and the losses were all winnable. I think there will be a huge chip on the shoulders of our guys this year and I am thinking we see more intensity than we have in a long time. Its going to be a interesting season. I'm stoked. Go App!

Re: Am I deluded?
I've never bought into the "playing with a chip" mentality. Ditto for "losing focus." They're just sports cliches, in my book.
Once you get hit in the mouth a couple of times, you're either good enough to win or you're not.

Re: Am I deluded?
"The Chip" is a motivational tool. It is not for the young players but the older ones. You use in the spring and fall practices. "Remember how you felt after the the Coastal game? Use that feeling to do things you never thought you could"..... There are many levels to execution and specific plays. On one level if someone hits you in the mouth, you bet he will get his later. On an another level "the chip" is a well used motivational technique all season long. And yes, at the end of the day, you are either good enough to do what it takes ... or you are not. And it does not work for everyone... but it does try to get a little more out of a player.

But he can join
He can be the occasional cold water or hit in the mouth guy delusionals need
I agree with Appgrad78, if you are not ready for a game or you are not good enough , the chip doesn’t matter..... I had a deep hate for losing that motivated me

Re: Am I deluded?
I'm with 78 to some degree on this. That kind of stuff is just used for hype. I'll defer to the best Tyson quote...."I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children." wait wait wait no I meant this one...."Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth."PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 30, 2021 7:27 pmBut he can join

Re: Am I deluded?
2 things can be true. Yes, no amount of real or fake motivation can over come a lack of talent. But I’ve seen others and myself, find another gear when motivated.
