For whatever it’s worth, I listened last night to the DC for ECU and he said that while he wasn’t as familiar with Duke’s team, that Chase has more weapons around him at App, more like Clemson than Duke. Their HC said when I look at their (App) two-deep (can anybody find our two-deep?) I see Sr’s and JR’s….. they know how to prepare.

Not so much sarcasm as quoting the popular movie "Remember the Titans". When they're playing the racist coach Taber. Yost looks at Herman and hollers "Run it up Herman, leave no doubt".

The thought was, that's where Dabo got this phrase from. I yell it every time we get a decent lead in Kidd Brewer. Someone behind me got the reference and when I yell "Run it up Herman" he replies with "Leave no doubt".

Its a beautiful thing.

I just can't shake the feeling that our first 2018 game will be something special . I can't put my finger on why I feel like this, it's just there . I haven't felt this way about any of our big opponents in many years.

I believe this year may be different than last. We played flat in a lot of games and the losses were all winnable. I think there will be a huge chip on the shoulders of our guys this year and I am thinking we see more intensity than we have in a long time. Its going to be a interesting season. I'm stoked. "The Chip" is a motivational tool. It is not for the young players but the older ones. You use in the spring and fall practices. "Remember how you felt after the the Coastal game? Use that feeling to do things you never thought you could"..... There are many levels to execution and specific plays. On one level if someone hits you in the mouth, you bet he will get his later. On an another level "the chip" is a well used motivational technique all season long. And yes, at the end of the day, you are either good enough to do what it takes ... or you are not. And it does not work for everyone... but it does try to get a little more out of a player.

I'm with 78 to some degree on this. That kind of stuff is just used for hype. I'll defer to the best Tyson quote...."I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children." wait wait wait no I meant this one...."Everyone has a plan 'till they get punched in the mouth."

2 things can be true. Yes, no amount of real or fake motivation can over come a lack of talent. But I’ve seen others and myself, find another gear when motivated.
