As someone mentioned earlier, tv sports/markets have changed. With all these streaming services, every game is on tv. Most fans eyes go towards good football. App does pretty well in this respect. App is probably one of the most unique programs/markets.
Boone is a smaller market, but their real market is Gboro, Charlotte and Raleigh where most all their alumni base is. Boone also offers a good destination roadtrip for visiting teams. Opposing fans can make a long weekend out of it & piggy back a mtn trip along with the game. What kind of tv market does Marshall offer? What market does Ecu offer? At the end of the day, fans want to watch good football games over big markets

Probably not. I know they've been approached but I'm not sure how much interest BYU had.ericsaid wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 5:26 pmDoes BYU want to be tied to the AAC in the event that UCF and Houston leave?appgrad95&97 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 17, 2019 12:44 pmDoesn't BYU make the most sense for a football only AAC add?
Their TV deal is kind of a secret so it's tough to compare to the AAC tv deal. But the two big sticking points are their rivalry with Utah and their future schedules.
BYU doesn't want to appear inferior to Utah, who got the golden ticket from the MWC to the PAC 12. So being independent is better optics for them to try to be Notre Dame West rather than a G5 team. Since BYU has been independent for a few years now and had likely planned on continuing to be, their schedule for the next 7 or so years is booked solid. So joining the AAC would mean either breaking a lot of those deals or not joining until they run out.

I agree with the comment a few back. Conf Usa & Aac has some decent teams, but not many rivalries etc. App would rival nicely with several teams in each of those conferences. Ecu, Marshal, Charlotte. Teams in large market areas dont draw eyes in today's tv games since every single game of every single game is on tv. People gravitate to good FB. Back in the days where only some games were on, the bigger market area teams made sense
