Would this not free up more $$$ for further renovation, assuming a dormitory would use state funds?

I know there is a waiting list for club, and we overflow to lawn but I don't know if that would change if we had seats or not. Boxes are full, but I don't know about a waiting list for more. I think club takes a $24k-$50k yosef contribution and boxes are like $100k.
Where are you getting these figures from? $1,500 a year would get you club seats if we had any available. I wish we had a six hundred fans giving $24K-50K a year!
I called and asked, but it's been awhile, if anyone wants to double check me they can this is the number (828) 262-3108.

This is from the the web site, but I didn't mean each year but over the life, I was thinking of 5-7 years, if I remember correctly it has went to about $25,000 for seven, but when I was on the phone a guy in the background was telling her to say $50,000. Maybe because they have been so oversold. I was just thinking off the top of my head what I remembered the total was going to be. Sorry for any confusion.

For example, if you sign a 3-year agreement at 4 percent escalation for a Mountaineer Luxury Suite you will pay a total of $25,000 first year, a total of $26,000 (1.04*25,000) the second year; and a total of $27,040 (1.04*26,000) the final year. Term options are available for three, five and seven years.

But the point is they sell for a whole lot more than seat tickets, and cost very little more to build, in some cases. Plus on the club deck they sell beer and food to a much higher degree, because you never really leave the game.
You were lumping club seats and boxes together which is what confused me. I do agree we need more of both since we have a waiting list and the return is higher.

Appalachian State either declined the championships or lost them to UofL, with many inclined to believe that Appalachian declined the championships. Does this mean our athletic department and university leaders are planning on starting KBS renovations (i.e. removing the track) sooner rather than later?

Back to the original post to show the apparent answer of "NO" with some documentation. I took a little tour of the University Business Affairs website and learned that no athletic facilities projects are currently in the either the design, bidding or construction phases. That means that any improvements to KBS in the near future will be small projects that can be bootlegged through the university maintenance or landscaping departments.

http://physicalplant.appstate.edu/projects

I also took a look at the UNC Board of Governor's site to learn whether any athletic facilities projects for ASU were in the incubator or "under cover."

Of 95 ASU construction projects being carried on the BOG books, dating back to state bond funds from the early 90s, only one ASU athletic facilities project has received recent approval. That is a $150,000 project to convert the old varsity soccer pitch at State Farm into a women's field hockey venue. That was approved by the BOG on Dec. 11, 2012. No completion date is shown.

That's it! That's all folks! No track removal; no permanent end zone seating; no nothing at this snapshot in time. Get used to it!

It is my understanding that up to 4,000 temporary seats could be installed in the north end zone. That could bring seats to 25,650. With the way the students pack it in we could have 32k easy for future games.

That is enough seating IMO until funds are sufficient to do it right.

I think that's right. Temp seats can be handled either by university maintenance or by the company we lease them from. That's a minimal expense. We just need a bunch of fair weather weekends and six 30,000 + home crowds this season. That would allow the athletic department to meet its annual debt service obligations and put some $,$$$,$$$ in the reserve fund.

That is exactly what I am saying! They could likely group the funding for the dorm with improvements to the "stadium"....infrastructure improvements that would not have to go toward stadium improvement expenses.

I'm with you on this bcoach. It seems some want the stands to start with the sidelines to move THEM closer to the field. They do not take into consideration the player's safety and ability to move around on the sidelines.
Personally,a buffer zone between the fans and the playing field is a positive thing. We use the track for cheerleaders and other things. Esthetics should not be a priority when there are so many other needs facility- wise.

I don't think it's purely esthetics. There is a lot of wasted space with the track in place; and having room for players and cheerleaders shouldn't be a problem. There's plenty of college stadiums that seem to do just fine without a track buffer.

If memory serves me right, OSU use to have a track around the shoe until a play in the end zone took a kid on the track. The player ended up hurt and by the next season the track was gone. I've always been worried the same would happen at one of our games, and I'd hate to see someone breaking a leg or tearing an ACL cause they slipped on the track.

My 2¢

The crickets chirping around information on stadium improvements and enlargements are deafening.
At least an open discussion, or statement would be great. There is no FBS negotiations or conference reason to claim that you need to remain quiet on the subject.

Ehh, I'm not worried about it. I don't need to know everything that they're working on.

It's possible that it is silent because there is nothing to say. Any renovation is going to require a large chunk of change and I'm not sure where that is coming from.

Then an even better reason to make a statement on it. If it's going to be five or ten years before we do anything significant to the stadium, would be great to know. A master plan for the next few renovations would go a long way.

Nothing is achieved by ignoring it.

So then instead of complaining about not knowing anything and a lack of a statement, you'll be complaining about how vague and uninformational the statement is.

I'd rather wait for a comprehensive plan for the future instead of a bunch of new pieces to the hodpodge erector set that the stadium is now.

It might be a good idea to wait and see what attendance turns out to be before we try to find more funding to expand the stadium or remove the track. The administration has already committed itself to not putting additional athletic fees on the backs of students. There is no way of knowing the number of fans who will show up in the future given we have no geographic rivals in the Sun Belt and also what our performance on the field will be like during the early stages of playing in the FBS. It's hard to get fans out in large numbers when the team posts losing records if that happens to be the case.

Is it at all possible there are other more pressing issues? There is an entire University to run. There has been a lot of time effort expended on finding a conference to accept us and then making every thing work. Could it be that there are some other things to take care of before further stadium expansion? Is it possible the athletic department has been told to get the last expansion and the increased scholarships paid for before any more plans are presented? Remember we are taking on more scholarships this year with no additional income from the SB.

bcoach - I agree priority one right now should be fund raising for scholarships.

App has spent over $60M in athletic enhancements in the last 4 years. We didn't spend that much the 20 years before that.

26k is enough for the next 3-4 years.

Some people won't be happy no matter what is said/isn't said - the administration probably knows that. There's no reason to come out and say "we're looking at the options".

They just provided a strategic plan about 6 months ago. There was no timetable only the as funds allow language. That is still the plan.
