Our friend Gerald Adams is turning 80 next week. Those of you who have met Gerald know he bleeds black and gold. When Chancellor Peacock congratulated Gerald on last year's record fundraising, Gerald's response was that he only wished he'd raised enough to fund every single Mountaineer scholarship.

For those who are so inclined, a gift to the Yosef Club in Gerald's honor would be a great way to tell him "Happy Birthday" next week. I'm planning to give $80 in Gerald's honor. I hope many of you will join me in thanking a man who truly has all of Appalachian State's athletes at the very center of his heart.

Daphne, do you know what date GA's b-day falls on? Have you posted this on ASU/Yosef Facebook pages or any other social media sites besides the MMB-II? Did GA become director of YC in 1991? For those folks who can't contribute $80 for his b-day could pay $21 (or $22) for his number of years of service in the YC.

Even though I've disagreed with Gerald on some topics which out of respect for his service I will let lie, I do admire him for his tireless effort for ASU. He's never been a self promoter, is humble and has represented the Y Club tirelessly and professionally. I think $80 for 80 is a great idea and I will be sending a donation.

Thanks, djb1971. Yes, Gerald's actual birthday is the 28th. I believe his official hire date was in September, 1991.

Thanks to all of you who have or will make a donation in Gerald's honor. Thanks, too, to everyone who has joined Yosef at any level. Every single member of Yosef is important to our student athletes.
