Is by any chance the Wendell Murphy who funded the Murphy Football Center at NC State the father of the Wendell Murphy, Jr for whom the field in KBS is named?

Wendell "Dell" Murphy, Jr. is the son of Wendell H. Murphy. Dell is the current president of Murphy Family Ventures. They have done very well in the hog business(at one time they were the no. 1 hog producer in the world), among other things. Pete, who I believe is the brother of Dell, is the Murphy on the facade of the Murphy Center at ECU. I think the connection between Dell and ASU is his daughter, who graduated from ASU.JCline0429 wrote:Is by any chance the Wendell Murphy who funded the Murphy Football Center at NC State the father of the Wendell Murphy, Jr for whom the field in KBS is named?

Coach Moore's contribution in growing the athletics budget totals way more than $5 million. That facility wouldn't exist without what he did for the program.AppinVA wrote:WataugaDave wrote:How about for $5 million, YOU could purchase the naming rights for the Athletics Center, and name it in honor of Jerry Moore.
The easy solution to this is to do what Auburn (Jordan-Hare) and Alabama (Bryant-Denny) have done and just add Coach's name to the stadium and make it Moore-Brewer Stadium.WataugaDave wrote:Bumping this thread to say: I think Dell Murphy Jr. should give back again by allowing the field to be re-named in honor of Jerry Moore.
I, for one, am always up for "More Brew".appgrad wrote:The easy solution to this is to do what Auburn (Jordan-Hare) and Alabama (Bryant-Denny) have done and just add Coach's name to the stadium and make it Moore-Brewer Stadium.WataugaDave wrote:Bumping this thread to say: I think Dell Murphy Jr. should give back again by allowing the field to be re-named in honor of Jerry Moore.
Moore-Brewer sounds a little strange, and it would take some getting used to. But - I also can't hear Bryant-Denny without thinking of actor Brian Dennehy - so there's that...
Not that hasn't been driven in the ground.JTApps1 wrote:There are much more important things to talk about than changing the name of the stadium.
