South Carolina drops ECU 2019....
So South Carolina just dropped their game at ECU in 2019. We still need a road OOC game in 2019. Would this be something you would consider, even with our series agreement? If we did this, it would be 5 games, 1 in Boone, 1 in Charlotte, 3 in Greenville. It would be lopsided, but it would give us 2019 OOC games in Greenville and Chapel Hill. That is hard to beat.

Man....Hell No. I didn't agree with the 2 for 1 with UNC but eventually accepted it because it is a P5 who has been decent in recent years. No way in hell would I be cool with ECU getting 3 games at home.yosef13 wrote:So South Carolina just dropped their game at ECU in 2019. We still need a road OOC game in 2019. I get it but, what if our only other OOC road game options are in the MAC or CUSA? If that's the case, I think we should pursue./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Man....Hell No. I didn't agree with the 2 for 1 with UNC but eventually accepted it because it is a P5 who has been decent in recent years. I just think it would be settling and not a good deal IMO. You have a good point about this game would be better than nothing or another FCS type opponent. I have a good feeling about this next season giving us more leverage with our demands. I think 1 in each of the three locations Boone, Greenville, Charlotte is fair. That might be this black and gold kool-aid talking though.yosef13 wrote:I get it but, what if our only other OOC road game options are in the MAC or CUSA? My question is why did South Carolina drop ECU. Does South Carolina have an opening now? If so, I'd rather work out something with them than with ECU.

The last I heard, South Carolina isn't interested in doing a home-and-home with us. But Bank of America Stadium could be in play.

Even just a money game at South Carolina would excite me. Make them pay 1.3 mill or so.

USC opens up at BOA in 2019, they're dropping their trip to ECU to replace that BOA game with a home game. But if you were paying attention when this series was announced this isn't all that surprising. I figured they would make the trip in 2019 and buy out their trip to Greenville in 2021. Looks like it could be both games now. Too bad for the Pirates.mikeyosef wrote:My question is why did South Carolina drop ECU. Does South Carolina have an opening now? I could be wrong but I think we're booked in 2019? I'm more interested in what will happen with our 2017 game against Savannah State now that they are D2.

Re: South Carolina drops ECU 2019....
I've heard mixed reviews about opposing fan experiences in Columbia. More on the side of obnoxious USC fans . . . not saying the Gamecocks are all bad hosts, but I've had several anecdotes of really bad experiences in Columbia for opposing fans.
Having said that, I would much rather play the Gamecocks in Columbia than the Pirates in Greenville in 2019. Of course there is a ripple effect in play that could open up some other interesting options depending on how USC replaces that opponent . . .

I would like to play in Columbia again, that was fun in the mid 70's. Just watch your speed leaving the state when you beat them!

I have had first hand experience with South Carolina fans. Seen three separate teams at Williams-Brice and their behavior was the same at each game. CLASSLESS!!! I swore I would never go back. Let's look elsewhere.

Add two more total games to the overall series... @ECU in 2019 and tack on another one in Boone in 2027yosef13 wrote:So South Carolina just dropped their game at ECU in 2019. App has a home opening in 2023 and they have two OOC games available.ASUGoose wrote:Add two more total games to the overall series... @ECU in 2019 and tack on another one in Boone in 2027yosef13 wrote:So South Carolina just dropped their game at ECU in 2019. Sad that SC did this to them, they'll never travel to Greenville. Tough for a "P6" team to swallow I'm sure.

At this point it would be impossible to replace the SSU game.

Re: South Carolina drops ECU 2019....
I don't think South Carolina is happening.
The fact is we need one more OOC road game in 2019. UNC is in the books. Doug's model appears to be one P5 and one G5 for OOC road games. Assuming it's a G5 we need to finalized 2019, who else would you want?

Any of the MAC teams are fine. But I'd like to see us get one of the G5 Florida teams in a H &H.yosef13 wrote:I don't think South Carolina is happening.
