Re: Liberty to FBS
Not surprised they're moving up but as an independent?? That's going to be a tough road to success unless they see future G5 conference realignment/restructuring happening soon. Money is not an issue for Liberty though, at least historically...they've made a ton with their on-line degree programs.

Proud triple-degree App grad--Classes of '66, '70 and '81.

Please no SB membership for them now or down the road.

Ha! Can't speak to any of that. I used to work for a member of their board of trustees and he always talked about how they invested early with the distance learning content and infrastructure and it really paid off down the road when the internet exploded...asu66 wrote:E-Z classes; E-Z degree programs; E-Z money; certain to become the Stanford of the East Coast!Rick83 wrote:Not surprised they're moving up but as an independent?? Re: Liberty to FBS
I assumed moving as an independent wasn't allowed. I'm usually up to speed on the logistics of movements, did I miss a loophole?
Another 85 FBS scholarships in our recruiting area.
A four state region from VA to GA has added 600 FBS scholarships (seven programs) from 2010 to 2017. That is going to have quite an impact on area programs. Biggest loser during this period is ECU, there were no other G5 type programs to compete against in those states until 2010.

Re: Liberty to FBS
Liberty filed for and was approved for an FBS Indy waiver.
NCAA probably knew the Fighting Falwell's would take every legal avenue they could if it went that way.

Opens the door for others as well. Although few have the money to pull it off.
May venture over to JMU's board, they can't be happy.

Re: Liberty to FBS
Hard to enforce the conference rule when there will be 5 independent schools next year.

Re: Liberty to FBS
All I can say is good luck with the home FBS scheduling as an independent. NMSU will be on speed dial.

I 've been in the ministry 46 years....and that quote is rubbing it in a bit thick.....almost to the point of creating a negative witness.

That whole school is a negative witness in my book.

Re: Liberty to FBS
I'm not against scheduling the Flames for a H&H at some point since they'd be another regional FBS opponent that App fans could easily attend as well as the Liberty fans fulfilling their ticket allotment in KBS.
Their AD choice is worse than their science! I am opposed to scheduling the Flames so long as McCaw is there. I hope Gillin never extends him an olive branch that gives him an ounce of success in his job. I don't care how "godly" Falwell believes he is!Gonzo wrote:Creation science isn't FBS-level science.
