Cobb and Peacock are holding the winning hand, and the game is over. I still side with Coach Moore. For those who do not, let's agree to disagree.

It is by no means the only game in town (life) though, and Coach Moore does have other options. Through the years I have learned much from him by example, and wish him well. I do hope that he finds another place to coach as long as he wants to, whether it be another university, college, or high school.

Looking beyond the horizon, beyond choosing a new coach, and getting an FBS invite, it appears that another transition is looming, one even more important than a that of a coaching change and an FBS invite.

The point has been driven home many times on this forum that Borkowski and Laney were detrimental to the growth of athletics at AppState.

Given that chancellors at Appalachian serve roughly ten years (Peacock has completed eight) and Cobb (be honest) will be gone with an offer from a wealthier school, what can be done to prevent another Borkowski/Laney-type administration?

Do you think the "people that matter" have enough influence to carry this off, or will they need help from the "rest of us"?

By the way, I meant no "harm" in the above post. Nutty as it sounds, at this point in Coach Moore's life it's not as much about money as it is being around the game (wherever it may be). As HC at WHS he would get to do what he loves best, be under little to no pressure, and get to stay in Boone. I realize this thought is "out there", but, at the same time it makes sense too. That's All.

I don't think Coach Moore will coach again. Stranger things have happened - but I think once he cools down he'll realize he can now enjoy his life with Margaret, attend games, and enjoy the perks that come with being a legend.

While there is some disagreement on here about when or how he should've been moved out to pasture - I think once the new coach is hired, we'll all support him...and in turn, we'll all hold a fond place in our hearts and memories for Coach Moore.

thats an interesting observation about who will take over once Peacock/Cobb leave. James Madison hired a new Chancellor, he seems to be more of a Brokowski type guy. Just a couple of years ago, their administration was moving aggressively ahead to move up, now, becouse of the new administration, there is a real chance they will stay in the FCS. Thats why I think its imperative that we move up asap, we could get another Peacock, or we could get another Brokowski.

He was made a believer when he saw freshman applications jump after the success of our football program. I believe he killed the idea of building a new stadium off campus in his early days. In retrospect it was the right decision. Having a stadium on campus is a huge plus for student attendance.

From my recollection, it was Peacock who initally floated the idea of using the Edmiston (Sp?) property for an off-campus football stadium. Additionally, he didn't wait long to remove the previous athletic administration from their post.

I will try to find that interview. Basically he was saying that academics had to trump athletics and the cost of the off campus stadium was prohibitive. This was before the stadium project so long time ago. Any way, he has done good things for academics and athletics.

I don't believe I said he coined the phrase. I said it was the first time I heard him use it. If I had meant to imply that he coined the phrase, that's what I would have said.

I can tell you from when Ken Peacock was Dean of the Business School he has been an ardent and vocal supporter of ASU athletics. He once told me that while he followed sports he did not see the full benefits until he was a graduate student at LSU. That was when he realized the power of a brand image and how important sports were for most colleges and universities.

By offering him a job worth $100,000 a year for the next three years to be an Ambassador. He must have really had it in for Coach Moore. I just can't imagine how someone could do something that despicable to another human being.
