I really like McGee's stuff - even more now - His Bottom 10 is the funniest thing I read each week - Heard him on David Glenn a few days ago and he said something like this - "As a reporter I must be impartial but it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if APP goes to the Cotton Bowl - get what I am saying?"

ESPN 100% is pulling for App State or SMU to make the Cotton Bowl. Boise State has had their time and they want a story. I'm sure for ESPN a matchup of say SMU vs Texas and App State vs Michigan would be something that ESPN folks would love to have.WVAPPeer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 12:18 pmI really like McGee's stuff - even more now - His Bottom 10 is the funniest thing I read each week - Heard him on David Glenn a few days ago and he said something like this - "As a reporter I must be impartial but it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if APP goes to the Cotton Bowl - get what I am saying?"
They aren't pulling for us because they like us though. Remember, the reason he and many of them are pulling for us right now is because we make a great story. It is a fun thing they all want to see. If we go to a NY6 two years in a row they will then pull for the next big story because we will no longer be the underdog story then.
Keep in mind though that if we lose one game it all goes away so I hope our team is ignoring all of this. It took what 4 years for us to get to this point but McGee and all the others will drop us like a bad habit if we lose just one game, even in Columbia.

McGee lives in Charlotte, doesn't he? I think he may be speaking more out of personal interest than on behalf of ESPN.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:45 pmESPN 100% is pulling for App State or SMU to make the Cotton Bowl. The App State vs Michigan Cotton Bowl story line sells itself. Would be a monster hit for ESPN.
As long as we keep winning and SMU drops a game, I anticipate we will magically jump Cincinnati and be in the drivers seat.

Yes - he was absolutely talking from a personal point of view - he said he had been to Boone numerous times, talked about the great fans, and several other things that he touched on in the article -

Re: ESPN Ryan McGee Article
ESPN and the rest of the media want a good story. They want something that can draw more views and provide a great story. No other G5 teams do that but App State and SMU. They want either one to be the G5 rep right now. I'm sure McGee likes us personally being a Charlotte guy though. I'm sure he rather us than SMU since he is from the area.appchicago wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 1:52 pmMcGee lives in Charlotte, doesn't he?
