Beat The Stink!!

I have emailed this to The Appalachian, hoping it makes this week's edition:
Greetings Mountaineers! I am a 1977 and 1982 graduate and a proud Mountaineer. I served as a student athletic trainer from 1973-1978 and another year 1981-1982. Back then Conrad Stadium seated 10K and there was always 15K there for each game and they remained there until the end. Now Kidd Brewer Stadium seats over 26K. Our Mountaineer Football Team is ranked #20 in the nation in two polls. I challenge every one who reads this to be in attendance this Thursday night as we whip up on The Stink. Bring friends! Pack KBS! I'll be there with two others! Yeah yeah yeah....I know the rain is coming. That's no excuse; it didn't bother 105,000 in the Big House when Michigan beat Notre Dame. You know we're better than that. If you're lucky enough to be a Mountaineer you're lucky enough!"

Great history of the rivalry.
I am so excited to be at the Rock on Halloween. I don’t care what the weather is, I want to be a part of this rivalry, and this payback. I can’t forget last year’s game. The cheap hits, the BS calls, the constant shoulder shrugging of them every time they did something remotely athletic, our short lived top 25 ranking.
We, as fans, owe it to our team, and our school to be there, to support our team and be as disruptive as possible to that awful and boring triple option offense. This game will be another part of history, and this rivalry, and I want to be there and be a part of it.
No excuses, no mercy, and leave no doubts...
LETS GO APP!!

If I can stand out in that miserable disgusting drainage ditch rain watching that debacle and listening to Mo Bamba on repeat, I can for sure stand in some rain in beautiful Boone watching the payback. At least the rain is clean in Boone. Also, Ga Southern students totally showed up for that game in the rain... no excuses!

I emailed Doug last night and urged him to hype this game on campus. Said about the same thing, ranked, undefeated and on national tv. I’ll be there.

That is a good article, lots of history between two really storied FCS programs leading into FBS stardom for one and up and down mediocrity for the other.

As fans, this is OUR statement game!
This team deserves our support regardless of the weather. Do we expect them to sit it out? Be there, be loud, and stay to 0:00.

"the stink" should never contain capital/uppercase letters, even when used as a title or part of a title. It is and forever will be, the stink.

The only thing that concerns me for this game is the rain.

So I was at a CPA seminar this morning and wore one of my "business casual" App shirts (I mean...it is game week after all) and randomly ended up at a table with both a Ga Southern grad (who was older, like retirement age) and then another App grad. It was a lot of fun. He's not going to the game but is meeting up somewhere with some App grads from his firm to watch the game. He was a nice guy but I knew more about their football program than he did...
Sadly, the App grad hadn't been back to Boone for like 5 or more years (and that was for a business conference) but I think I got her excited about taking her family up for a game.

I at least hope you are pretty far away from NC for someone not to get to Boone every year at least once. I couldn't imagine being too far away. Still hoping our hospital takes over Watauga or something so I can move and work up there before retiring up there.

Nope, we're in the Triad. There are lots of dormant App grads around...I try my best to spread the black and gold gospel...preachin' it all the time.
