Cajun fan here so be nice.
Me and another buddy are making the trip next weekend and need advice on where to eat/drink Friday night and Saturday. We are staying in an AirBnb walking distance to the stadium. Looking for the best combination of local food plus a good atmosphere to watch other games. Any help is appreciated.

Well, there isn't a lock to be in Boone next week.
But I'm sure you'll have plenty of recommendations.
I like Black Cat, Cafe Portifino, and Mellow Mushroom.

Where exactly is your AirBnb? Be forewarned that the stadium is on a hill, and you will have to walk up either coming to, or leaving the game. Enjoy your stay (just not too much).

I have full confidence in you guys. Troy’s QB has a hurt foot, won’t be close.
We are staying in the neighborhood Southeast of the stadium, 10 min walk according to Google.

^In college in Boone is where you can actually say "back in my day we had to walk up hill both ways in the snow".

He have had a tendency to make it interesting for at least a quarter or 2 lately with what is supposed to be easy games. Though it does appear nice weather will be in order for this game.
Just don't look at the weather in Boone next weekend, cause its what we've had all year for home games.

Appalachian Mountain Brewery (great craft beers, food truck); Tapp Room (good beer selection, TV's, food); Woodlands BBQ-Blowing Rock (food); Red Onion (nice place for dinner); Cafe Portifino (great place to hang-out, good beer selection); Boone Saloon (stop-in for a beer or a mixed drink).

Walking distance from the stadium: Cafe Portofino, Black Cat Burrito, Our Daily Bread
Short driving distance: Cardinal, Red Onion, Peppers, Coyote Kitchen, Booneshine Brewing
If the weather is good a beer or cocktail on the patio of Portofino with the view of Howard's Knob in the background can't be beat. They'll have TV's to watch other games on also.
I would eat at any of the places I listed, and miss being able to do so daily.

It will be great to have you guys. Thanks for the vote of confidence. Not sure if you know this but our stadium is on campus so there aren’t any restaurants right at the stadium. If you guys are that close you should walk through campus and up to Kings street. Boone has grown a lot but Kings street is the center of the town and it buts right up to the campus. There are a number of restaurants and shops in an area no bigger than a couple of city blocks. If you come in early enough on Friday take a trip down to the town of Blowing Rock. Its very similar to Boone but a touch more high end. Picturesque little town with shops and restaurants in a small walkable area. Have a safe trip.

Southeast of the stadium likely means your walk back home is going to be straight up hill. It can be a haul up that hill (though not terribly bad. If you're anywhere on Stadium Drive, you will not be able to drive towards the stadium until well after the game (but you can get out to Hwy 105 going the other direction).

One of my favorites is the Gamekeeper. You will need a car or Uber to get there. We only can afford it once a year. Need reservations. Another in town is Our Daily Bread.

Not super close to the stadium, but while you are in town, check out Booneshine Brewing. Rivers St ale house before game for something close.

Gamekeeper is another one of my favorite places in the high country. Their menu features wild game (hence the name) prepared with a lot of creativity. Ken and his team there do a great job.
It is pricey but it's worth if you want to experience something unique.

Cafe Portifino is a great place to eat. Be sure to visit Mast Store in the downtown area. Enjoy your stay.

Rivers Street Ale House will offer you the beer/bar food/Televisions any good ole boy can appreciate. I like beer and wings and proximity to the stadium, so Rivers Street checks the boxes.

I honestly don’t think there are any BAD places to eat in downtown Boone. All the restaurants range from good to great, so you’ll probably be safe going into any of them. However, if I had to pick just one it would be Black Cat.
