I still think it's too early to make this call. Don't want this idea to get out there and start snowballing before we know if this is going to be needed. Situation is so fluid right now, no way to predict this.

Unless you want to have Homecoming in the snowy Holmes Center in January, stay inside for the next few weeks.

He's a dumbass, but it's a conversation I'm sure is happening somewhere within the bowls of the NCAA. If you want college football, stay the heck inside. It's frustrating when commentary is shot down as though the mere suggestion of something bad happening breathes life into it.

But I would imagine NCAA football is far more likely then pro football to be cancelled. Most of the NFL revenue is composed of TV rights and I have to imagine you'd see a serious discussion about games in empty stadiums before you'd see them cancelled. And most NFL players would probably opt for a gamecheck over skipping a season.

That said I still think Herbstreit's commentary is totally asinine. I'd much prefer ESPN coordinate with the leagues on what the expectations are from a player/fan safety standpoint before play can realistically resume. Are alternatives like empty stadiums a feasible alternative/etc, when does a decision need to be made/etc.

The MLB contract is particularly worrying since the parameters for play resumption seem nearly impossible to hit this season. It'd be interesting to compare them to whatever the NFL comes up with.

I'm a little worried for next basketball season as well, but obviously between the later start and the ability to probably start play as late as January and still get most the season done helps quite a bit.

What I have seen suggests this and the summer football are not likely to happen. We will have football.

Check out the World Tag Championship stuff. Pretty solid entertainment.

I also like watching the MLB/NBA/NHL classics they have been running.

Staying inside isn’t required, staying away from people is. I actually think getting outside is therapeutic.

You're absolutely right! Although based on the number of people I've seen congregating in the park/tennis courts, and the discussion out of the Mecklenburg county commissioners, it looks like just a matter of time until we've got a few less options here in Charlotte.

If we are still in bad enough shape to cancel football season it won’t matter because we will be in such a deep financial depression that no one will be able to afford going to a game.

Herbie’s comment this far out is nothing more than click bait. Everyone wants college football, what better way to get a buzz going?

GO APPS!!

Exactly! Since I'm working from home, I now have almost two hours a day back (commute time) and can do my morning runs at 6:00 instead of at 5:00 a.m. I've been going for walks with my wife (and dog of course) most evenings so I'm still getting about 15K steps a day even though I'm cooped up here. I would be going crazy without that time outside!

Nope. You should subscribe to the channel and watch all of them. The commentary is what makes it most interesting.

I'd say there's about a 90% chance there will be no college sports in the fall.

I do think there will be a long intermediate period where businesses are all open (mitigating the economic impact), but where congregations of tens of thousands such as football games might be discouraged. The infection peak will occur in April.

I agree with the prior posts though: if you want football to happen, practice REAL social distancing. Every day I see people on social media with their entire extended family on a boat etc with a caption about social distancing. People just don’t get it.

Theoretically if the season were canceled does anyone think this years season ticket purchase would be refunded or used for the 2021 season? I was going to buy season tickets here in the next couple days and I'm kinda concerned.

Too many people are not taking this seriously. It is going to be around a while. Just drove past our Kroger and there were every bit of 150 cars in the lot and nobody standing outside. Lowes is packed. I am in Virginia and there are NY license plates all over the place. Sad.
