Let's say it all together "E-S-P-N"

The more games conferences get on tv, the less tv time there is to go around. When you're at the top of the bottom you get first dibs on the table scraps.

I'm with you. I get it. Tues/Wed/Thurs games for $$ etc, but it isnt worth it. Give up one game sure, but mult games, you are losing magical Sat afternoons in Boone, recruiting etc. Boone is magical, but hard for ppl/fans/season ticket holders to get up for Tues or Wed games. Thurs games you can turn into a weekend

So happy that we are retired and can make some of the weeknight games but still nothing beats a fall Saturday afternoon Boone.

We’ve been playing mid week conference games for 8 years now. Did someone now just notice?

Personally, as someone who is too busy on Saturdays in the fall to make it to very many games, and who only watches college football and no other sports, I love having a college football game to watch nearly ever night of the week in the fall. I was already in the habit of enjoyably watching SBC and MAC games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays even when App was still in the SoCon. It is one of the reasons I was advocating for a move to the SBC when most of this board was still CUSA or bust.

I think it sucks. I upgraded to NEZ and we only have 4 Saturdays to enjoy being in Boone. Getting to Boone for week night games isn't always easy.

The worst aspect of these ridiculous midweek games is that it creates what feels like huge gaps between games. Play on a Saturday then nothing until the following Tuesday then another big gap until the next game. While any App game is special it’s just not the same playing on a Tuesday or Wednesday versus a Saturday. Anyone have an estimate of how much the net money shakes out for the TV revenue to App for a mid week home game played with, say 15k in attendance versus 28k on a beautiful Saturday afternoon? Account for ticket revenue and concessions. The money aspect is one thing but the lost fan experience is another.

All of the sentiment on this thread is accurate. But let's not forget that we have ZERO control of it. This is the conferences TV deal and as members of said conferences we do as we are told. There are two ways to increase our Saturday games: Get a P5 conference invite or go back to FCS. One is just as unlikely as the other; while we all hate it there really is nothing we or App as an institution can do about it.

Knowing what I know about how Black Saturday atmosphere is in Boone, we beat Georgia Southern in 2019 if that game is played on a Saturday at 3:30.

If we drop to a 6-6 program this won’t be an issue any longer. Be careful.

Two Thursday games..I think is great. This is a traditional night to have football for many years. Even NFL....IMO, my issue is the Tuesday and Wednesday games playing ULL and CCU...these could be the two toughest games in conference...would rather see on Thursday or Saturday...more traditional days for football. With that said, understand the TV contracts drive the schedule.

It's easy! Just waste all your vacation time for the year on App games! Ignore your family and friends, App football, DO IT!

Yes, we all get this, but voicing displeasure on a message board isn't going to make us lose games, so nobody needs to "be careful."

Now did we need a new thread acting like this is a new discovery when our schedule came out three months ago, probably not.

I feel the opposite. Thursday games mean playing on short week, which potentially means more injuries and less time to prep for the opponent (especially if that opponent happens to run the triple-option). And going head-to-head with the NFL and SEC/ACC means way fewer people watching our game.

Thursday is only "traditional" since what, the mid-'90s? Focus on Tuesday/Wednesday games for a few more years and that will be tradition before you know it.

Have we played 4 in one season, including a Tuesday night game?

Interesting that it drew 17 posts besides mine. Anyway, it was meant as a rhetorical question.
