App State Football has been voted an East Division co-favorite in the Sun Belt Conference's preseason polls and awards that were released by the league Tuesday, two days before Media Day in New Orleans.

In a vote by Sun Belt coaches, the Mountaineers and Coastal Carolina both finished with 44 points to lead the way in their five-team division, while Louisiana was voted the West Division favorite.

In receiving four of a possible 10 first-place votes for the East, App State also had six players selected for the preseason All-Sun Belt first team and nine picks among the two teams.

Finished co-favorites with only 4 first place votes -- which means more people voted Coastal as 3rd or lower than voted for App second or higher.

I’m expecting a big year out of this team. We have lots of talent and really no reason we shouldn’t run the table given no serious injuries. Bring our A game every week and we will be fine.

ULL voted CCU 4th in the East I bet.

Coastal hasn’t really earned it. One good season. On the other hand I think we lost our edge last year. No doubt, App has earned it, but I hope this years team is hungry.

We know SC loves his team and App. Can he motivate and instill the drive in this loaded team to achieve another championship. Time to put the beach chickens in there place and give ULLLLLLLL another L.

Based on comments made by members of the staff in recent months, there isn’t any need for the coaches to get involved in motivating the kids. The returning starters and Super Seniors have that part on lock.

Coastal players and coaches did and said some things before and after last years game. There won't be any need for motivation.

Remember, we outplayed Coastal for 95% of the game last year while we had a depleted squad and they were basically full strength.

Not really. If not for an all time bad game by their snapper we would have been handled pretty easily.

Not really. If not for an all time bad game by their snapper we would have been handled pretty easily.

I guess I'm focusing on that missed field goal at the end too much.

Could have taken that one too , didn't really deserve it but it was served up for us.

No doubt, they did everything under their power to give that game away to us. However, it appeared we just didn't want it enough.

The chickens DLine considered that much more highly ranked than App St.
