First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
Who will be the first BCS conference program to visit the ROCK?
NC State will visit South Alabama and ODU in 2015?
http://www.nationalchamps.net/NCAA/futu ... future.htm
http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootbal ... for-201415
Cobb has ties with NCSU, if they're willing to go to those two schools, why not App.

ECU or Wake are whom Im betting on. State and Carolina are just too arrogant to make the trip up the mountain. Hell, it took ECU 20 years, and the State legislators to get them to finally travel to Greenville.

I agree exactly with your comments. Putting my own personal bias aside being an App alum, I dont understand the pompous mentality of UNC especially and I grew up a Tarheel fan to say the least. I dont think they understand the damage they are doing to their brand and that that kind of damage is very difficult to repair. We of the Mountaineer Mania/AppFans need to think of this as we move foward and need to continue to be inclusive of all as to continue the humble/family like atmosphere with the same highly competitive spirit. The only acceptable attitude I would go with right now and only in short term is to have an attitude of piss on UNC who are they anyway in the football world.moehler wrote:ECU or Wake are whom Im betting on. I think UNC is destroying their brand in the realm of sports marketing.

I would LOVE to see Wake Forest back in Boone. The black and gold versus the black and gold. We share markets too, so it'd be nice to see them take on each other again.

For our first home Bowl subdivision game I think it should be one of the following 3 schools to rekindle old rivalries.
Historic BCS conference member - my vote is for Wake Forest.
Go5 member - either ECU or Marshall.

Don't think we'll be seeing Wake for quite some time. That question was directed to Wake AD Ron Wellman two nights ago on WXII-TV. After some humming and hawing, he made some "PC" comment to the extent that a Wake - ASU series "might" make for an interesting rivalry "someday." He seems to have completely forgotten that it was one of the hottest rivalries in North Carolina collegiate football until he and his head coach killed it themselves. It's was pretty clear that he wants no part of it.
I think ECU is the most likely first BCS home opponent; with UNCC and Marshall being close second and third. NC State is highly unlikely and Carolina is a complete "forgetaboudit" in our lifetimes.

I hope it is not Unc-c, we will play them soon enough (too soon imop). We need to go big for our 1st home bowl division game - big being a long time rival or a nationally recognized Team. We need to swing for the fences akin to opening up the Holmes Dome with the Tarholes.

I vote for Marshall or some other out of state BCS team. ECU is in the BE now remember? Why would they lower themselves to travel to Boone?asu66 wrote:moehler wrote:ECU or Wake are whom Im betting on. State and Carolina are just too arrogant to make the trip up the mountain. Re: First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
Anyone who thinks Wake will play IN Boone anytine soon when they won't play in WS hasn't been around the scene long. Don't expect any ACC teams for a while. Other than Sunbelt FBS teams, a school such ad Army who has an AD who is friends with CC might be a good guess. Or a WKU if they go CUSA.
On a slightly different note, ETSU Football is back in 2015. TN Bd of Regents today approved a $125/yr additional fee for football. You might see them in KBS as a non FBS opponent. Prob a low cost guarantee and lots of football starved fans plus a first year team= easy decision.

Re: First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
I don't think we will see any of the North Carolina ACC schools in Boone anytime in the foreseeable future. Maybe 10-15 years down the road.
I do believe ECU will come, but not until we have expanded the stadium. Maybe 5-7 years down the road for them. They aren't BCS though, so they don't really answer the question posed by the OP.
I believe the first BCS school we see in KBS will likely come from the ACC. My guess is Louisville, Syracuse or Pitt.
The first non-Sun Belt FBS school we see will probably come from CUSA. If I had to bet, I'd say it'll be MTSU, WKU, Marshall, UNCC, ODU or Ohio U.

Re: First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
For the record, ECU/Marshall/UNCC are not BCS schools. My bet would be a team like Kentucky or maybe Vanderbilt. I would suspect it will be a weaker team from the SEC, ACC, or BigXII.

Re: First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
I doubt very seriously that a school from a BCS conference will be in Boone in the foreseeable future.
Any out of conference FBS games we have will likely be the ones mentioned above, which are not from BCS conferences.

Why would it take App longer to get an ACC game than it did ODU and S Ala?

Could be. I liked this comment I saw on the Atlanta Journal web site.

I've been saying it for a while. It won't be before too long that App. St. joins the SEC, giving the SEC its much coveted access to the NC market. APP St. has unlimited upside.

Re: First BCS program to visit the ROCK?
With our ties and history with Shawn Elliott there is a very slim chance that South Carolina could be our first SEC school to play against us, however I doubt they would come to Boone but a game against ASU and SC at Bank of America stadium would be an awesome sight, and only a two hour drive for both schools.
