BOA game attendance?

Anyone have the official attendance for the ECU game tonight at BOA stadium?

From what I see on TV and the broadcaster estimate it is definitely the largest home crowd in our history.

Was at the game. Agree!

When I got home (have a 2nd grader with a bedtime) they said close to 40k

The lower bowl only seats 22,500 plus 11,500 club seats, 2,400 suites and the sections that were filled in the upper deck only total about 5,500 = 42,000 that could have been sold.

There were a lot of empty seats sprinkled about. The four corners looked pretty sparse.

Announced total will be the total number of seats sold or given away as perks to business partners who supported The Charlotte Sports Foundation so we'll probably never know how many actual people were in the stadium but the announced will be somewhere in the 40,000 range. My guess however would be that there were about 35,000 people in those seats.

Seating Capacity
There are 73,367 seats at Bank of America Stadium and are distributed as follows:
* Lower Bowl: 22,501
* Upper Bowl: 37,114
* Club Level: 11,356
* Suites: 2,396
* TOTAL: 73,367

TV said 37k. Never heard an exact number.

That would seem to be accurate. ECU didn't really fill up their side and the only uppers that were sold were behind the App State bench.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — App State had mayo-covered mojo on its side during a night filled with opening-night magic.

Playing in Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL's Carolina Panthers, the Mountaineers went on a roll to claim a big lead and post a 33-19 victory against East Carolina of the American Athletic Conference on Thursday in the Duke's Mayo Classic. A crowd of 36,752 was on hand as App State built a 33-9 lead in its first game and first win in Bank of America Stadium.

My perception was App St contingent held their side of the Mayo Classic. We sat on ECU side due to other folks at game. We were at Club Level on the 50. We could have moved to other seats if we liked. There were some openings on ECU side. It would be great to play them there again. If we have to give up a Saturday game in Boone dur to ESPN, etc.. Charlotte is the place to host...major airport, highways, lodging near stadium, etc. Overall, great experience.

Not going to try to give numbers but we showed up. The App crowd was sizable and engaged in the game. The whole thing was well done and I would love to see us play in Charlotte on a regular basis.

Official attendance was 36,752 according to multiple news sources so it sounds like only about 1,500 more than the Wake Forest game drew in Boone in 2017. In my opinion this should go on ASU's list of largest home game attendance but only with a big asterisk since it was a "home" game in name only. If it ain't at "The Rock" it ain't really at home. Attendance for this game would have been about the same (or maybe even higher) if it had been held in Boone...but with fewer ECU fans. I bet this number falls anyway next year when UNC comes to Boone. Now it's on to "Rock" the next NFL stadium.

While we were the "home" team, this game should be classified as played at a Neutral site.

It was definitely App dominate. I felt like it was in that 35-40k range from being there. If it were another regional opponent that could've drawn more opposing fans, BofA would be a great host again.

UNC is not coming to the Rock next year. Write it down.

Have they ever cancelled on an in-state opponent? I know they have political power that other non-cheating public universities don't have but if that were to happen the state legislators in the western NC area needs to raise hell if only for the economic impact of keeping money moving in-state.

First SC, now NC? Gonna end up losing all of our good OOC homes games in our newly revamped stadium lol. I doubt SC does come here in 2032 or something like that? I get it money is tight but damn this would suck

I know nothing. This is just what I predict to happen. With the seismic upheaval in college football in the past month, I fully expect this upcoming off-season to be one of unprecedented nature. I expect the P5 schools to break contracts and create fully P5 schedules. Again I have no knowledge of anything I am just reading the tea leaves.

I would not be surprised if they circle the wagons as a group. I also know ECU used some legislative pull to get some games with UNC-CHeat and NCSU. I would prefer not to go that way, but I do expect them to honor a contract to an in-state sister school and if they don't I expect some internal bitching and moaning to make a political point. The rural eastern side of the state has more political pull than the rural western side but I would want our own to go to bat for us, though if they don't want to play us then f' em.

But you do make an excellent point.

I’ll say again…Sue them for racketeering and anti-trust violations if they do.
