I would guess S. Miss, Marshall, ODU and/or JMU to the Sunbelt. We should hear something by Saturday, would be my guess.

UNCC 100% to the AAC.

I know WKU just came from the Sun Belt, but I would like to see them added as well. Don't care who the other is to make it even. LA Tech, MTSU, FIU, but I do think WKU would be intriguing and hopefully they add.

Mike Aresco on Paul Finebaum Show. No official date set but FAU, UNCC, N Texas, UTSA, Rice and UAB are definitely entering the AAC. He's talking about the scheduling, strength & potential of new 6 schools and AAC's superiority in all sports...LMAO!!!!

The shocker would be ECU. No one would see that coming. Their reason for leaving being not wanting to be in same conference as Charlotte.

USM for sure. Marshall if they want it. If they balk, JMU.

Isn't there a huge fee (like $10 million) to leave the AAC? If that's true and you're leaving to go to a Big XII it makes financial sense, but doesn't to make sense to make a move from the AAC to the Sun Belt. The AAC still has Memphis and SMU, plus a historic Navy program.

This is exactly why ECU isn't going to the SB or Memphis, Tulsa, SMU won't be going to the MW. It's a $10M exit fee with 27 months notice. An earlier exit can be negotiated in exchange for a higher exit fee.

On top of that, outlets are reporting that the AAC is still keeping it's same tv deal somehow. But even if it got cut to like $3M that's still more than the SB. There's also the exit fees from the 3 Big 12 schools that will be split among the remaining AAC teams. Might as well stick around for that money. Only once it becomes 100% certain that there's no more tickets left to the P5 in any way should schools like ECU and SMU consider a G5 to G5 change.

The report that I read said the remaining 8 schools would be paid according to the existing contract, which is actually not an equal share to each school, and the 6 incoming schools will receive about 1/3 of the average payout of the existing schools. Apparently, they plan to use the exit fees from the departing members to prop up the payments to the remaining members. Whatever new media deal ESPN negotiates will be significantly less than the current deal.

Thanks, so in your opinion, do you think the 6 schools moving to the AAC will be elevated to the level of the current AAC over time or do you think that the remaining strong programs, Memphis, Tulsa, SMU will be lowered down to the level of the 6 newbies? Or a bit of both...

It can be a bit of both but really, the success is in the individual schools hands. Even if the conference isn't what it used to be. If the school invests the money and makes the right hires, it can succeed like the top of the AAC teams did these past few years.

This model of AAC pulling the six proposed schools looks glaringly similar to the model CUSA used 8 yrs ago. That model failed miserably. If you look at the six schools, all of them are sub-500 performance recent and lifetime in football. Since football is the driver in this move, that means they are back filling the loss of their three best members with six extremely bad members. This is not a sustainable business model and destined for failure. Over time the SBC will overtake new AAC/CUSA 2.0

But the AAC (and the SBC) have something CUSA doesn't have...ESPN. CUSA has little to no money or TV exposure.
