ESPN Darlings…..basically raped Hennigan on first drive, no call….unreal

Yeah, I’m beginning to believe we will have to beat more than just Coastal tonight to win.

I know one call they won't be getting....

I was beginning to think the Sun Belt had conspired to ensure the CC chicks would get the wink wink from the refs. Especially the reviewed plays. Oh well they can’t change the score.

The reviewed plays seemed to turn out to be accurate.

By my count the first 8 close calls all went to coastal. It looked to me like the refs got about half of those wrong. The one call that could have been a game changer was that almost interception in the back of the end zone. That one finally went Apps way.

I won't say we stole that one, but it did fall off the back of a truck.

But i'm not sorry! That's the game, and we had plenty bounce against us early on!

I felt it was just horrible officiating overall. They didn’t have control of the game.

Losers blame officiating. Winners overcome it.

Not sure the appropriate thread but this is probably as good as any- Coastal remains an ESPN darling despite the loss. Still in the Power Rankings top 25. The writer believes that CCU could still go 11-1 but acknowledged that they lost control of their destiny for the Belt East. Still getting some calls.

It really won’t matter. Even if they finish 11-1, they can’t get into a NY6.

Our remaining schedule is tough enough. I have moved on from Coastal other than life-long memories of the awesome crowd on a Wednesday night. We have to go 1-0 each week for the rest of the year. We do that. Rest takes care of itself.

Coastal’s loss must not have been a “bad one” for the voaters. Guess if they win out they can climb back to 15.

And our Miami loss got better yesterday

Good for them. We take care of business and they’ll be the highest ranked Sunbelt team watching the championship game.

If all 3 SBC teams win out, ESPN might pull strings to have 3 SBC teams ranked by the conference championship game so they can show a televised game between ranked opponents while possibly having the highest ranked sit home and watch. Story lines! First, everyone must win out.

I would be surprised if Coastal climbs quickly again. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but I don't expect it. They still have some convinced but lost a part of their voting fan-base. Many of those won't be "fooled" easily again. I'm thinking they rise to about 20....guess we'll see.

As a former official I can tell you, there is no grand conspiarcy going on to help one team defeat another. Every call these guys make is reviewed and critiqued by the league office and often times the schools involved. Sometimes, they get things wrong because they are just human after all. The league never assisgns an official to a game if there is even a hint of a conflict of interest. Believe me, they know the rules and the mechanics of officiating much better than your average message board poster. As the poster said above, winners overcome the occasional bad call and losers wallow in self pity.
