Some more perspective

Unread post by AppSt94 » Fri Nov 26, 2021 8:28 am

Ole Miss won the Egg Bowl last night. With the win, they have secured their first 10 win season in 100 years. A win tomorrow by App, gives them their third 10 win season in the last 7 years.

Currently App is among 22 BCS level schools with a chance to win 10 regular season games this year. IMO schedule is somewhat irrelevant for this achievement. You play your schedule. Look at the records of CUSA and MAC teams. Take out UTSA and no other school has less than 4 losses. Only Oregon in the PAC12 can get 10 wins. It ain’t easy and for us to possibly achieve this mark for the 3rd time in 7 years is remarkable.

Agree. The schedule is what it is. Winning is hard and you win on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday with study and preparation.

If you look back over the last 20 or so years half or more of App St seasons have been 10 or more wins. Thats tradition! It also leads to us nut jobs on this site to act like idiots sometimes. Me included. GO APP!

A win today will make 15-10 win seasons since 1987. And I believe only 3 losing records in same time span. I did not count the 8-9 win season in that time frame but its impressive!

Win Saturday and our conference record since joining is 54-10 and overall for that stretch is 80-22. Someone correct my math if I’m wrong.

Cincinnati record over the same stretch- conference is 42-21 (assume a win tomorrow) and overall is 67-32.

7 of 12 games this year were vs teams currently greater than .500....after this weekend Apps 2021 schedule could include as many as 9 teams with at least a .500 record...getting 10 wins this regular season would be pretty nice achievement for this team.
