May have something to do when Clark mentioned they were going to do some things different than the last trip to switch it up.
We stayed in BR the first game. I'm not sure why either. Its at least an hour bus ride.
Not sure why either, can be some good delays between BR and Laf at times as well.

Thanks for the information. My son is special needs and requires canes or a walker to get around. What handicap areas do they have at the stadium. We have not make reservations yet as we are still on the fence about making the trip. Thanks in advance. Jim Banks
Well, I am no expert on what they have, but I can tell you that there ramps at each entry that will take you to the main concourse, so getting into the stadium should not be an issue. Once you are in the stadium, I believe that there are spaces for wheelchair/handicap seating at the top of the concourse located in the SEZ, which is opposite to the visitor's side.
If you are driving in, handicap parking is through gate 4. They also added handrails along each of the aisles on the visitor's side, we were very needed.

Please be aware: the entire stadium is a dump, and in dire needs of renovations. The $75 million project will start next summer, but will mainly be dealing with the home side: the entire west side will torn down and re-built. They did some minor changes this summer to the home side....re-did some concessions/restrooms, and added a covering, which was soley needed.

Yes, I can see now why the team would want to stay there, but otherwise I think it is kinda loopey to stay in BTR. I would allow for at least 1 hour drive, but the traffic in BTR, and all along the interstate to LFT is very congested, and frequently backed-up for miles. You will have to also cross 'the Basin,' which besides being congested can be a deadly route. If you cross the Basin, I would STRONGLY advise to follow the speed limit and be ever vigilant...there have numerous horrific accidents on it.

Words of advice for anyone staying in BTR and traveling to LFT:

1. I would allow myself at least 1.5 hours to get there. Traffic in BTR, and along I10 can be brutal.
2. In fact, traffic most of the way from BTR to LFT can be bad. Be especially careful on the Basin Bridge. Never speed, and keep alert. There have been numerous accidents on this bridge through the years, with several horrific ones.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atchafalaya_Basin_Bridge

3. I would take the Amb Caffery exit off I10. It will take you directly to CF. Just remember to merge LEFT when coming in, to Bertrand Dr....if you merge right you will be given a lovely, long tour or all of south LFT.

Safe travels. Should be a great game!

Not sure why either, can be some good delays between BR and Laf at times as well.
Other BR food options:
Parrain’s is good for authentic LA food including alligator and is near hotels (Perkins). The Chimes is good with reasonable prices and both inside and out seating options. It is at LSU gates so easy to walk around campus from there.
Tsunami’s downtown has rooftop dining (sushi and more) with great views of the Mississippi. Lots of other restaurants and bars downtown BR and can walk on levy by river.
Best casino in BR is L’Auberge resort about 10 miles south of LSU. Has good restaurants and great river views. Hollywood is best downdown one.
Downtown has some good things such as State Capitol (you can see area where Huey Long was shot including bullet holes in marble wall). Another is Old State Capitol building with its Gothic architecture. Capitol Park State history museum is good for history buffs.

Afternoon!

We are staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites on Pinhook Road. What can you tell me about the area surrounding the hotel? Any good restaurants?

We fly in late Friday night and are looking for a good restaurant to go eat at before heading to the game.

Thank you!

Glad to see some Lafayette folks here helping out. My son lives in Lafayette. Been a couple of times but not for a game.
Can recommend Don's Specialty Meats for Chicken Cracklings (thank me later) and Boudin. It's a little north of town on the Evangeline Thruway, I think there is a second one just west of town in Scott. For deli items and a pretty good assortment of sandwich stuff and chicken salad (tailgate stuff) Champagne's food market. Prejeans is a legendary Cajun restaurant but I haven't been since it closed and was sold. Olde Tyme Grocery is legendary for their shrimp po boys.
Half Shell Oyster House is high rated. Haven't been to this one but can vouch for the one in Biloxi. Walk On's is usually solid too. Try some alligator wings, my favorite way to eat gator.
In Baton Rouge, Mike Anderson's has been a long time family favorite. Haven't been in a long time but their Crawfish Bisque used to be outstanding. IF you get time go check out Tiger Stadium and visit Mike. One of the locals mentioned La' Berge Casino, I can second it. Food at their buffet is a notch above most casino buffet's and usually features some local food.

Yes, bon temps is a great choice. But they close at 10pm on Friday’s, so don’t know how ‘late’ you will be arriving. If it’s possible, definitely make that your first choice. Great food and its right down the road from your hotel.

If you’re getting in later than 10, not sure what your options will be. You will be in walking distance to both the doubletree and windham garden, which are full service hotels, esp the doubletree, so they may have more food/drink options. Also, you can always do Waitr and have some fantastic food sent right to your room!

T’Coons is also a good breakfast place, but i much prefer The French Press. Get the Cajun Benedict and you will thank me later. But if it were me, I’d just eat a light breakfast on Saturday, and then head out straight to Cajun Field. That way you can stuff yourself with some of the best tailgating food you will ever eat…..and it will be 100% authentic Cajun food!

I’ve stayed at the Juliet Hotel on Jefferson Street. It’s only 2 miles from the stadium and has a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The hotel is a little old school and doesn’t offer a lot of amenities, but is nice, clean and can’t beat the location.

Yes, the Juliet is a neat little place. Your right across the street from the Spoonbill Restaurant which is in an old 1950’s Conoco gas station. Indoor and outdoor, good food. And the Rock n Bowl also across the street. Fun to bowl, drink and live music. Can’t go wrong in that area.

Yep….would def recommend rock n bowl for the late arrivals. Not that far from the pinhook area, stays open late and has good food fun and music
