Re: ULL CCG discussion
That sums it up pretty good. I would add our best is considerably better than their best. We have not seen a complete game from our guys yet and still won 10 games. Big discrepancy between common opponents as well.appstate77 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 2:07 pmTo quote Adam Whitten about CCU: "Our best is better than their best." If we show our best, we win it.

You say we haven't seen a complete game from our guys yet. Why do you think that is? I've even heard the coaching staff and players make that same statement.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
That seems to be a common cliche floating around sports these days. At this point, you are what your record says you are. For us, that includes the first half of the Georgia Southern game. No team, not even Georgia, plays to its fullest potential for every play and every quarter.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
GS game was similiar to the Elon game, what was it 13-3 at half. Definitely not one of our better halves this season. The complete game statement is the ultimate goal, when you stop striving for that you settle for mediocrity.....and that's not App State football. I commend our staff and team for striving for that complete game, lets hope we see it this Saturday!

Re: ULL CCG discussion
Some teams play down to their competition. ULL has lost to our championship legacy team in the only two SBC championship games. ULL will be ready to play. I believe we will too..expect close game.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
Theoretically if the Belt was to coordinate the CCG to be played on a neutral field where might it even be played? I would imagine it would need to take place at BOA for us to put an ECU game level number of fans- let’s say we played last night to allow for the ACC game tonight. Would that distance and timing greatly reduce the number of La fans? Is there any viable alternative for the conference to use a neutral field which would work? I can see this happening once we complete the realignment so to speak.

I agree. The complete game is total domination of all 3 phases of the game. 10-2 is a fantastic record regardless.appstate5 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 29, 2021 4:14 pmGS game was similiar to the Elon game, what was it 13-3 at half. "Napier had close to 40 analysts at Louisiana-Lafayette and could end up with even more in Gainesville."
Wow. Louisiana really spent big on football the past couple of years.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
Considering that they had 40 analysts, it is very amazing that the game was only 8 points and we had some shots. Those type of resources are very hard to compete with. Lot of speculation that ULL was stealing our signs, well 40 analysts will certainly give you the man hours necessary to break all the film down enough to figure what our signs are.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 9:29 pm"Napier had close to 40 analysts at Louisiana-Lafayette and could end up with even more in Gainesville."

Re: ULL CCG discussion
If any of that is/was true can’t you theoretically counter that with up-tempo? If we used a little more sense of urgency and got plays off quicker it provides less time to “steal our signs”. Just a theory.t4pizza wrote: ↑Mon Dec 06, 2021 11:17 pmConsidering that they had 40 analysts, it is very amazing that the game was only 8 points and we had some shots. As far as the actual game I never understood the running back rotation. If Cam went out for a possible concussion I get it but we never seemed to rotate in a different back during any series. If NN was in he was the guy on every play no matter what it seemed.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
I have no doubt ULL was stealing our signs. Two things with that:
1) We were likely stealing theirs as well
2) Change the signs up if you expect it happened in the first matchup

Their annalists didn't lose that game for us. We didn't execute plain and simple.

Contrast the onside kick against Coastal and the play calls before half in the championship. One says we are better and we are playing balls to wall to win, the other said we just want to not lose. We basically played like we were waiting on them to screw up. They let us hang around and we could not catch a break. It smelled like a game we would lose from the the get go.

It just wasn’t our year against Louisiana and that’s fine. We aren’t going to win them all. We had plenty of chances to win this game. Let’s go win our bowl game and come back next year to win the SBC.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
I think it was more Napier built a team with schemes designed to beat is. It's hard to be aggressive on offense when they have two safeties over the top at all times and still get an incredible pass rush. Deep shots just were not there.appbio91 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 10:09 amContrast the onside kick against Coastal and the play calls before half in the championship. Totally agree. I knew we would lose after the first few drives. We didn't have it and they were just better.appbio91 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 10:09 amContrast the onside kick against Coastal and the play calls before half in the championship. I think we lost it at the O-line, again. Their D-Line was better. Our D-Line was better than their O-line too but their QB has better mobility. Tough break for our seniors, they balled just couldn't get it. Proud to be a Mountaineer.

Re: ULL CCG discussion
Agree, give ULL credit as they were the better team this year. I thought it was a very entertaining hard fought game. We owned them for a stretch both in the regular season and with two SBC championships, they made changes and had that magical year.App_in_Maiden wrote: ↑Tue Dec 07, 2021 10:14 amIt just wasn’t our year against Louisiana and that’s fine. The conference overall is much better than when App first entered and with the most recent changes will only get stronger. I am loving the new SB East, but it will be a dog fight every year.
