Brice returning

A third of our rushing yards were on one play. Our most consistent ground gainer was the QB running for his life.Southern held us to less than a hundred as I recall the week prior.I'm not saying to tar and feather the O line but we have issues that have to be fixed if we are going to win championships. We had the skill players , and the Defense to win this thing .Shawn knows it .

It is truly probably easier to find skilled running backs than O linemen. We have had some great Oline play over the years. I used to call them "the big nasty".

Hopefully, Shawn will build it back. If he can't, he has to get some misdirection in his play calling.

Back to Brice, a Clemson fan asked tonight if he had another year. She said he would be welcomed back at Clemson if he wanted to come.

If it was Noel’s turn he was in for the whole series no matter what the situation. Same for Cam and DH. I think NN was phenomenal this year but how many times did we have 3rd and 2 and needed to just pound the ball for a first down- with Cam? Nope not his turn apparently so it was live or die with Nate.

Interesting question on the short yardage. I went a pulled the play charts for each game and found it surprising. I looked at every play that was 3rd down and 3 or less and charted the outcome. We had a total of 40 such plays. 31 runs and 9 passes. Of the 31 runs on 3rd and 3 or less. Noel was 8/13 on getting the first down. Cam was 4/11. Brice was 3/3, Harrington was 0/1, Castle was 1/2 and Montgomery was 1/1. On 4th down and less than 3: Cam was 3/4 and Noel, Brice and Harrington were all 1/1. Seems that Nate wasn’t a bad option if not a better one.

But, looking solely at 4th Down rushes by our RB's, we were very successful, with Peoples being the King of 4th Down:
Miami--4th and 2--Peoples 28 yard TD
Elon--4th and 4--Noel 5 yard gain for the 1st Down
Marshall--4th and 1--Peoples 3 yard gain for the 1st Down
Louisiana--4th and 1--Noel 1 yard gain for the 1st Down
Coastal--4th and 1--Noel 1 YARD LOSS
ULM--4th and 2-Noel 4 yard gain for the 1st Down
--4th and 4--Peoples 26 yard TD run
--4th and 1--Peoples. NO GAIN
--4th and 1--Peoples 4 yard run for the 1st Down
Ark. State--4th and 2--Noel 2 yard run for the 1st Down
--4th and 1--Peoples 5 yard run for the 1st Down
South Al.--4th and 1--Peoples 5 yard run for the 1st Down

One other comment on 3rd and short. There are times when Clark/Ponce know that we are going to go for it on 4th down, if we don't make it on 3rd. So, the play calling affects that.
