Draft worth wait for Mellette: Ravens pick Elon receiver in final round
Burlington Times News
Appalachian State had punter Sam Martin go to the Detroit Lions in the fifth round and cornerback Demetrius McCray — who Mellette torched last season in Boone with 13 catches, 247 yards and three touchdowns — went to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the ...
......Saying Mellette torched McRay. It's obviously an Elon slant, IMOp.

LOL, who won the game? When you can't beat someone, you resort to comments like that. They haven't beaten us since joining the conference, and they never will.

The shot at McCray was unnecessary but the point is valid. Mellette had huge days against us the past two years, matched up primarily with McCray.
Their beat writer is a homer but I think Mellette was an absolute steal in the 7th. 6-3, 215 with great hands. A solid route runner too. I think he is going to stick somewhere in the NFL.

Mellette was good. Elon still doesn't have a quality FCS win on their resume...ever.

He was good don't get me wrong he is from my home town. But at Elon he was thrown the ball just about every play. If i remember correctly we had a few interceptions last year.

It is valid, but the these matchups don't happen in a vacuum. Our inability to get consistent pressure on a QB over the past two or three years is going to result in more completions.

I think DJ was scared by getting beat by the deep ball to Hudgens and Mellette and never tried to get pressure on the Riddler or Elon's latest QB, <can't recall his name but i think is a very good QB>, we certainly have had the talent and speed over these seasons the but lacked the gameplan and balls to be aggressive against them. Pass defense has never been a DJ trademark, and there is a long list of not so good performances, even though he's turned things up a notch or two against some of the best running teams at our level.
Mellette is an NFL caliber receiver, imo, but lacks the superstar potential of Brian Quick.

Speaking of Elon... I drove through campus yesterday afternoon and noticed 5 or 6 cars at the football stadium then saw a 25 member marching band marching down the street... By golly it was Elon's spring game... :>)
