Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
It's generally fun to see these lists but at the same time it's hard to see some of these rivalries being on there. It's hard for me to imagine a truly intense rivalry in the MAC, at least in football. Also, hard to imagine the Iron Bowl not being on a list of rivalries and Georgia/ Florida has been a bigger rivalry than Georgia / Georgia Tech for a long time (although the Georgia /GT rivalry is rightfully on the "unbalanced" list.

App Fans are really good at filling out surveys, as well as Georgia Southern, this is the result of an engaged fan base. This speaks volumes about schools like App State and Georgia Southern as to why this rivalry is so intense.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 9:57 amIt's generally fun to see these lists but at the same time it's hard to see some of these rivalries being on there. Yeah, no Aubie V Bama on the list? Florida/Georgia; ole Miss/Hail State; Texas/A&M; Oklahoma/Texas; Florida/FSU
Ignoring some of the biggest rivals in college football doesn't look good.

Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
In the section “see your team rivals data”, I clicked on several schools. ECU rivals are NCSU UNC UCF. ????
Also, is this correct: WHAT DO THE DATA MEAN? Sounds wrong to me.

Since the big change to the spread around 2005 and the success that followed I'm not sure this is a rivalry on the scale of these others. We are 12-5 since 2005. Yes they have spoiled 2 recent seasons, but this is something that unless the stink really find a way to crawl back up, I think this rivalry will die.

Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
I think the last couple of years, and going into the future, we will recognize our true rival....an old friend....Marshall. The heck with Southern, we have history with Marshall.
Both schools have won multiple national championships, both schools have moved up and are winning at the highest level....at College Station and South Bend.
No other potential rival can claim what these two schools can. I was hoping for ECU, and a lot of their fans want us now that reality is setting in for them, but it's the Herd. Pirates ain't going into an AP top 10 game and winning.
It's Marshall, and I'm glad. Our history with the Herd is rich, and balanced. Both schools are hotter than a two dollar pistol right now, and the future is bright for both...and now they have joined our conference.
Mutual respect....winning tradition....a common culture....

Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
I had the exact same question. I know data can be plural or singular, but it's technically plural (supposedly). It's correct, but generally in nonscientific literature "data" is used as a singular so "what does the data mean" sounds more correct to the ear.
Also, had to laugh at this: Charlotte really wants to be our rival.

Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
Its a shame the MAC plays too many weekday games and the rust belt's economic woes have stifled this, but the MAC has a ton of intense rivalries, or what were intense rivalries. The MAC was the original regional rivalry conference. What 75% of membership is in Ohio and Michigan?Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 02, 2022 9:57 amIt's generally fun to see these lists but at the same time it's hard to see some of these rivalries being on there. Marshall-Ohio is also a great rivalry that hopefully won't die.

Re: TOP 10 Most Intense Rivalries
Sorry, but I can't put any respect into a "rivals" list that doesn't include Bama/Auburn or Florida/Georgia on the list. Just makes it look silly and I can't take it seriously.
