Does anyone have video of his comment before Michigan where he said nobody wants to see these games vs IAA opponents? He called App State a cupcake.

Are we sending him copious amounts of black and gold cupcakes from Stick Boy or Local Lion? Like a ludicrous amount. Or maybe fill his hotel room with balloons with cupcakes on them? Sorry. I’m Irish. I hold a grudge for a loooooong time.

That was 15 years ago, who cares. Fact of the matter is at the time we were a cupcake for a program like Michigan and that is the reason the win was so historic.

Game day coming to Boone is awesome for the university and program. The hosts of the show are our guests and should be treated as such. Once they realize how great of a football environment we have and how great a fanbase we our then who knows, maybe one day they come back.

I understand some good natured fun, but hope this is more of a showcase to the college football world of how great a place we have then booing a host every time he opens his mouth for some comments he made 15 years ago.

I have this fear that someone is going to show their ass (figuratively...and literally) during this great opportunity and tarnish our great program. I'm all for good-natured joking but I hope nobody crosses the line. It's a morning broadcast so that should help reduce (but not eliminate) the alcohol effect.

I don't watch Game Day every week but does he really still look at us as cupcakes? I know he (like most analysts) still focuses on the 2-8 big boys and doesn't really expect us G5's to be in the discussion but I also think we have earned respect and a place at the bigger boys table. I agree, hope we have fun but we don't need to look stupid or embarrassing on national TV.

I hope all of the gameday host, staff and support are treated to the best experience of their life so years from now they all mention App State and Boone as one of the best places they ever went to.I no longer care what Herbie said 15 years ago. Gameday is coming here for Troy. Without looking we all know there has to be better game somewhere else but they decided to come here. Im sure logistically this will be one of the hardest places to come to. Hopefully when they leave they remember how great this town and the people are and not how bad the traffic is and what a few assclowns did.

This is a reward for our history of success in big time games (starting in ‘07). It’s also just as much of an opportunity to showcase our program as those games have been. The groping allegation toward Miami, the spitting incident at the Wake game, and most recently the post game crowd “interaction” with Marshall all made me cringe! It seems a (very much) minority of our fans can’t handle the spotlight, and it’s never a good look. I’m all for some playful ribbing, but if anybody gets out of hand / crosses the line, I hope security skull drags them!

Any cupcake comment signs will instantly not age well, if Herbie comes on and says something like App has come along way in the college football world since the Michigan game days and no one schedules them as a lightweight anymore.

If we want to move on and be perceived as a quality environment and fan base we need to leave the cupcake comments at the bakery. Herbie was uneducated and the time and now he’s not.

I believe that we have achieved a new level of respect and we certainly get discussed in lots of national media. I really don't think there is a cupcake perception anymore. If they decide to play another Longest Yard game I seriously doubt if the guards schedule us a tune-up either.

I for one hope the Michigan game doesn’t even come up. It was awesome but it was 15 years ago and we have a lot to talk about with this current team.

Unfortunately, some still see it that way. Not sure how if you pay attention to college football at all. We're 2 plays away from having a winning record against top 10 teams since 2007. We're 2-3, with 2 OT losses which we all know how those went down.

100% the hosts will be heaping praise on us. We are going to look like jerks on national television if we are booing Herbstreit every time he opens his mouth while complimenting us. However it would be in good fun if he made a reference to the comment himself and would instantly defuse the situation imo. On a different note we don’t need to act so insecure. We’ve won for forever. I honestly believe We were just the first school that popped into Herbstreit’s head when he was trying to make his point. I’ve never thought he specifically thought we were cupcakes. And even if he did 15 years ago, we’ve proven his comment wrong. I really hope this doesn’t become too important.
