The betting odds have slightly moved in JMU's favor. Now at 6.5.

Some of you guys said Vegas was usually right. I don't know what 6.5 means, but it looks like they were at least partially correct. I still don't like betting on high school or college sports, but still.

Some of you guys said Vegas was usually right. I don't know what 6.5 means, but it looks like they were at least partially correct. I still don't like betting on high school or college sports, but still.

App was the favorite. We were favored by as much as 8 from what I saw. Dropped to 6.5 because people were betting on JMU to cover the spread. App -6.5 means we are a 6.5pt favorite. They move the line to try to where money is being placed fairly evenly on both teams. Vegas sets the opening line but it moves with the money.

I didn't notice it having the minus in front of the 6.5. In fact the post I copied and pasted did not have the minus. Thanks for clarifying.

No problem. I don’t think he mentioned it was App -6.5. I believe he just assumed we knew. If you ever look on ESPN usually it’ll show the spread numbers. If it’s ever App +7 or something like that, it basically means they’re spotting us 7 points, so they think we will lose. If we lose by 4, then we covered the spread and betters is that took that bet will make money. FWIW JMU is -20.5 over Texas state this week. Vegas is high on them for sure.

It didn't have a minus because it was talking about JMU. They were a 6.5 point underdog, which would be written +6.5 or 6.5. There would have only been a minus if JMU had been the favored team.
