From what I'm reading, Laramie, at 7,165 ft., is considered moderate altitude, and on the low end of that range. I'm sure there will be some affect but not bad enough to cause many issues, with a negligible advantage to Wyoming.

We go skiing out west most seasons and always prep with gatorades and hydration packets the week leading up to it. Sometimes that helps, sometimes it doesn’t. I’ve gotten altitude sickness as low as 7500’ at Big Sky and other times not a hint of it. I’m certain the boys will be pounding hydration this week. Altitude sickness isn’t fun, usually happens to me the first day/night of arrival but is gone the next morning.

Assume they can’t go out a day or two earlier to adjust for elevation. That may suck. Hopefully they have some tricks for that.

They should be out there a full 24 hours prior to kick. Granted they will be in Fort Collins and not Laramie. The elevation change affects people differently.

Hope they are better than me. Took me about 48hrs when I went to Jackson Hole and that’s only in the 5,500 range. Wonder if we have a way to go do some practice/running at the top of Beech?

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t pretend to know exactly what the body has to do to adjust to that type of altitude but spending some time on Beach Mt this week sounds like a good idea.

I'm going to leave this alone after this one. If you stacked Beach Mt. on top of Boone, the elevation would be around 7,700 ft. That's 500 ft. higher than Laramie. We're going to learn a lot about our off season conditioning and our depth.

Beach Mt is 5500 feet. That’s not 7000 but it’s a lot closer than Boone at 3300. And yes we will learn a lot about off season conditioning program. That said I was in Evergreen CO about a month ago and I didn’t even really think about the elevation and it’s at about 7500. I took a pretty good hike and I do remember getting a little winded.

I’ve been pretty happy with the way App has played so far, but I have one question. Where are the option run plays? I’ve seen a few read-option looks, but no old school option plays. I know it’s a totally different coaching staff, but we used to run option plays with Taylor Lamb, and he didn’t have half the wheels Aguilar has. Just seems like that would be another wrinkle you could add to the offense to keep the defense on their toes.

Wyoming got 3 votes in the coaches poll. If we win this I think we start getting looks/votes. If we win I feel confident saying We are back and will see a 9 win or better season.

Need a few days for your body to produce more red blood cells at higher elevation/less oxygen to bring your body into equilibrium. Hopefully 7,000 feet isn't that bad.

Been to Utah twice. Stayed at about 8500' and that definitely took time to adjust to. Nosebleeds were an interesting symptom.

Saw wind in the forecast on Saturday in Laramie, never good for a team relying on the pass. I kind of like the line being closer +2.5 than I expected +5-6, maybe we can pull this out. Going to be tough. UNC was our toughest opponent, now it's Wyoming based on their play at Texas.

Remember Wyoming is coached by the same guy that built the NDSU dynasty and is a really good friend of Coach Moore.

There's a reason Wyoming is good. They are well coached, have the same philosophies as us (blue collar, pound the ball, wear the other team down), and have a proven winner at the top.

It's going to be a damn good game.

Well I just lost a tad bit of confidence about the game. If the talent level is close to even and it becomes a coaches strategic battle we may be in trouble.

Wyoming isn’t going to scare you with their offense. They scored 20 points in regulation against Texas Tech and 10 against Texas Tech. They prefer to grind it out on the ground. If we are successful moving the ball and putting points on the board, then we can force them into being one dimensional.

I live in Laramie. The stadium is at 7220' and it is rarely not "very windy" here. Fort Collins is unfortunately not even 5k' I think, not all that much higher than Boone. The ride up 287 is all uphill.

If we can run consistently on the Pokes I'll be very surprised. They're really good up front on D. Fortunately they're not as good in the secondary and their offense, while improved from the last couple of years, is still a work in progress. They're going to contend in the MWC this year.

I'm not a X's and O's expert, but I can say that this Cowboy team has a ton of heart and isn't going to pack it in early. I was at the TT game and they just got whooped early on then slowly crawled back into it. We went out on the field after the 2OT winner.

I watched the TT and that game pretty much describes your assessment to a T. If I remember correctly, they had two early turnovers and got down early. They clawed their way back into it. Can’t wait for the trip.
