Just wondering if anyone has stats on attendence so far on the G5 schools and where App stands with them? I know their are larger stadiums than KBS in the G5 but do the schools fill them to capacity like App does.

In the Sun Belt we’ve trounced the other schools. Troy listed like 26k for the JMU game, yet when I watched it all I saw was empty bleachers and the cheer of like 100 folks.

I know for a fact we had the largest over capacity % in the country, and two games in would be shocked if we didn’t have it again.

Stink game sold out...is coastal the only game not sold out? If so, impressive

That one will go soon as well – looks like only a couple hundred tickets left

The fact that we are even flirting with a sell out crowd for a Tuesday night game is very telling of our fan base and the level of support we have for our program. There is a very vocal online minority that would have all believe the sky is falling and our program is doomed, but our attendance tells a very different story. MId week games have terrible crowds everywhere except App State, our fans show up.

What a dumb statement. This Clark questioner will be in attendance that Tuesday.

My support for this program is bigger than one coach

It isn't dumb at all, it is a factual statement about our fanbase. You can draw your own conclusions and I can draw my own. Again, I contend that my view is a rational take.

At its essence, your statement implied that you cannot be a supporter of app state football whilst simultaneously questioning Clark. It’s very dumb.

You might have taken it that way, but that wasn't said or implied at all. I never even mentioned our coach. What was said is that our fans show up and support our program, and they do. People tend to read things online (texts, posts, twitter feeds, etc) with their own inner voice and often the message that they see (read) is not the message that was written. Perhaps that happened here with you. All that was said and meant is that despite any external chatter about our program, our fans show up and support it.

To act like the chatter is not happening in the stands is silly. I would say the average app fan would believe things are falling apart more so than the vocal online crowd. Average fan, we did not make a bowl last year. We went six and six with two FCS wins. We haven’t won a championship since 2019.

So yes, to some the sky is falling and who is to say that they are wrong?

Yes, we have not been what we all are accustomed to as a football school. However, despite all of that we have had consecutive years of record yosef giving, upped the giving requirements for parking, added a giving requirement for seat purchases, consecutive years of season ticket sell outs, record number of fans at the Rock. Again, our fans support our program and that is very impressive. In a day and age when the vast majority of programs struggle to sell tickets, we continue to sell out. Again, our fans support our program. Fear not about the sky falling because we can't do anything about it. If it falls, we will find a new coach and if it doesn't we won't. In the meantime, lets continue to support our team and hope that things get better and we win a whole bunch more games this year.

App has always had great support. I'm not sure I've seen the place "empty" since Joe B days in the early 2000's. With that being said, we need to be GROWING our base. We need to be more than an "Alumni fan base". We should be North Carolinas football team. The casuals should be seeking out good football in Boone, not in Raleigh or Chapel Hill. How do we do this? Win. Win the big games and the games we are supposed to win. Have ESPN talk about us. Be playing in bigger bowls. This is where we have struggled. Casuals don't care about who our coach is and how long he's been here. It's sports, it's entertainment. Winning and good football is what financially benefits you. The old version of CFB is dead.

VT’s sky is quite literally falling (constantly over the past decade, actually) and yet they still have incredible attendance. Hell, Nebraska has been maintaining its sellout streak even tho they’ve been abysmal for decades.

Sometimes the fanbase can be the strongest asset to a football program, even with bad teams. I wouldn’t necessarily interpret fan input=fan satisfaction/complacency.

Some of you guys (the vocal minority) may not realize this but everyone doesn't take this game as seriously as you do. Most of the students come to games to have fun and will do so no matter what. Most alumni will come to games no matter what, will continue to tailgate and won't even know or care about recruiting, coaching changes, NIL or the Portal. I'll bet if you took a poll at the next game and and asked every student and fan who the assistant coaches are very few will be able to name a couple, possibly any. Bottom line is that a great majority of true App people simply don't take it this seriously.

Our attendance is great because of the memories created in special games at special times. Spending time with those that are important to you and those you've shared those moments with.

Each person attending has a feeling of nostalgia when they visit on gamedays. We all know when those moments are created.
