Awesome, everyone should call your reps and make this happen. This would make football in NC the best fan experience in the nation. Those guys must read Yosef’s Cabin. I suggested this in a thread a couple of weeks ago.

Cool, but hey legislature, stay out of sports. And from the "limited government" republicans too. They are supposed to be my people.

Actually I am for smaller government except when it comes to managing monopolies, like sports and universities and most big industries.
F the SEC monopoly!

or funding things at a reasonable level. parks had a huge backlog of repairs. other infrastructure has needs. list is longer than i have time to type.

I like it especially since they are both ACC teams.... and we know the ACC is trying to shut us out

Playing in-state schools on rotation makes to much sense. It’s a shame the government has to draw up a bill making it a requirement.
What’s the penalty for a “high enrollment” institution to ignore said bill?

On their own it’s unlikely we play them other than what is already under contract. And State has tried to get out of that. Mack has made UNC’s position clear.

NC State doesn't want to play us but they might need us if UNC leaves them behind.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

If you take the politics out of the funding of the schools where App would be on an equal level, then you wouldn't need the politics to equal out the sports side.
Creating problems, then getting celebrated for fixing them.
Parks and infrastructure I agree with, along with equal funding of education. Not most of the other BS though.

Re: NC lawmakers to force UNC, NC State to play in-state schools
How did this turn into a discussion about taxes to fix parks? As for the small government part, these are government schools. Nobody is trying to make Wake or Duke play anybody. It’s good for the fans, and it keeps the money from these games not only in state but in the UNC system. UNC Chapel Hill could play JMU and send, what, $300,000 or $400,000 to VA or they could play App and keep all the money in house. This would be a win for the state as a whole. Three or four years into this and it would elevate the whole UNC system.

Having the legislature involved in college football scheduling is ridiculous.

I wouldn’t trade any non conference game on our schedule this upcoming season for either unc or ncsu.

Re: NC lawmakers to force UNC, NC State to play in-state schools
I don't want legislatures to get involved with sport either, HOWEVER, this really is getting at a problem with spreading state money around to state funded institutions. The problem we are seeing is that UNC and NC State are participating in a group (P4) that is intentionally excluding, like a monopoly, against their competitors, G5 level schools. To the degree that the state of North Carolina legislature can help force the to largest univesities to help spread the wealth only makes sense. It doesn't mean UNC/NC State have to "give" money to ECU/App/UNCC but just play games with each other and let some of the revenue flow back to G5 schools. If we play the games then everybody wins from a monetary sharing perspective. Much like the NY Yankees playing Pittsburgh Pirates. If NYY refuse to play the Pirates would be the equivalent to what has been happening in college football.

Just make sure we don't turn into hypocrites when the state mandates we play at Western Carolina Home and Away.
