Just a fun little thing here.
My wife and I are In Nashville this weekend and yesterday I was sporting some App gear as we were out at the honkytonks. I had a couple of shout outs from fellow Mountaineers which is always fun. However, in Morgan Wallen's new bar, This Bar, an older guy came up and said "Hey App State," I turned and he laughed and said "we still hate you guys." I laughed and said "you're gonna have to be more specific, who's your team?" He said Michigan! I replied, "that was a long time ago" we fist-bumped and he started walking away shouting "it still hurts" "it still hurts!"

It hurts, because it has taken Michigan 15 years to recover from that one loss. Autonomous schools have nothing to gain from playing non-autonomous schools.

Also, for what it's worth, Eric Church's new place, Chiefs (which is pretty cool actually), has App stickers on pretty much each landing of his 5-story place. He also has Tar Heel stickers though, and Caldwell County along with the state of North Carolina type stuff. I can't figure out how to post the picture here.

Were the Tar Heel stickers placed on top of the App State stickers?

Actually, I tell people that you cannot be born in the state of North Carolina until you decide which North Carolina ACC team you plan to pull for during your life. Most people become App fans because they went to or have relatives that attended App. Many, not all, are really upset that they did not get to attend the school they pulled for their entire life and went to App instead. It does make you feel good to know that App is relevant in what seems to be most important to the nation which is College Football more so than any other college sport.
The biggest thing that sets Appalachian apart is the loyalty App grads have for their school, because if you do not like it you leave, however some leave due to life circumstances, but those people are usually very loyal to their time at Appalachian. It takes a special kind of person to be an Appalachian Mountaineer. That is why Yosef is the Student Body and Alumni.

Music City App here. Glad you had a good visit to Nashville. I am sure Luke Combs new bar will have some App paraphernalia as well.
App has recruiting several players from middle TN. Tabscott, Cole Becker and Luke Smith. Becker is still on team as backup linebacker. Hope to see more recruits from TN choosing Appalachian State in the future.

Thanks. We discovered Nashville when we went to the Luke Combs concert at Nissan Stadium last spring (2023), went back the following June for the Darius and Friends St Judes benefit concert and have been back 3 times already this year. We've booked some Nashville Christmas shows in December and Category 10 will definitely be on our itinerary. Hopefully it'll be open by then.

I promise to shut up about Nashville after this one thing.
Last month we went to a singer/songwriter series at the Country Music Hall of Fame in their small auditorium. They were featuring Luke Combs along with 4 of his songwriter collaborators. It was the coolest music thing we've ever done, and we've done a lot. At any rate, at the end Luke and the other guys hung around to sign stuff and we had a Hatch poster of that event and, it was a bit crowded, but when Luke was signing ours I said "Hey Luke, when are you coming back to Kidd Brewer?" He looks up and says "Aww man, love to, hope to soon."
Such a cool guy who hasn't let superstar status go to his head.

I first pulled for UNC as a little kid, Dean Smith was the coach and Phil Ford was the point guard.
Later on around the 6th grade, I went to see a Wake Forest football game versus Auburn, Jay Venuto was the Wake QB and I became a Wake fan going forward.
Couldn’t afford Wake tuition, so I went to App, it was a blessing in disguise, been a Mountaineer ever since!
Go App!

I went to App because that was the only place that I applied that I got accepted. I feel so fortunate to have done so.
