THIS IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO FIRE THE COACHES OR COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS OR THAT - I would like to hear from those who watched the game / or where there -
I'm asking about what you think was OK / Positive / What Helps to keep all our goals in front of us
Some have stated things in other threads I am sure but I don't want to read through all the bitching and moaning to find them - This is not for negatives :x or attacks on certain players :D
1. I thought the OL did a good job - Coach played them the entire game and that will help them gel as a unit
2. I thought the running game was positive especially with Castle
3. We have very good WRs with Robinson, Horn and Jackson (thought he really looked improved) and we have guys behind them who have experience
4. Ethan Johnson CB who I think is considered our best DB - they didn't seem to pick on him much
5. Thought we tackled well in space - we don't have the speed to run guys down
6. As much as it hurt to see, all the DBs have film to watch and learn from - we will not play another team with the speed and quality of Clemson - if they had completed a few passes then it would seem our guys would not have learned as much - but by completing so many all over the field there is plenty to study
7. We all know what Joey can do - nothing concerning there
8. As always, Hughes in solid and we had some good punts as well and Andre Hamilton is as good a special teams player as we've had in a while -
This team will be good

Another positive is how App fans travel. I was talking to a Clemson fan before the game who told me when he drove thru downtown Clemson yesterday he noticed that it seemed App fans had taken over one of the local bars (forget the name) that is popular with Clemson fans. Saw quite a few App tailgate tents mixed in with the Clemson tents and quite a few App fans in the stands many of whom were not sitting in the App section. I will not be in Greenville Saturday but hope we have another good App crowd to support the team.

I was sitting 16 rows behind the Clemson bench surrounded by some serious (very nice) Clemson fans. Multiple times they commented about how impressed they were with how well we tackled.

I’ll be honest, I turned the game off after the first quarter. And in that first quarter, our receivers had a lot of balls hit their hands and didn’t get hauled in. If that changed later, good. But I didn’t see “very good receivers while I was watching”. I saw a lot of missed opportunities.

Favors played very well on special teams and on defense

While the Clemson DL kept Joey moving, the OL kept him clean.

Joey was throwing off his back foot. Looked like he was scared. I hope he settles down before next week. He didn't look like he got hit much...I think it was because he was throwing passes while running backwards.

Pass OL looked good given competition.
Run OL is still work in process. Getting outside with kanye seems to be an issue.
I think joey will be fine. Just needs to relax and ball
Harrington...given all the injuries..what a baller.

Like to see more pressure by the DL

We held them to 0 yards on the first two plays and had Klubnik not made an amazing throw, they would have started 3 and out. Then who knows.

It would have helped to have someone within 5 yards of the receiver too.

I am concerned about Kanye’s running style compared with this OL’s run blocking. The two do not seem to mesh right now.

Run blocking at the second level is still very much a work in progress.

Giving up after one quarter is wrong on many fronts

Why would you sit there and watch something that’s going to make you upset and angry? There’s no reason. I left the game after the first quarter, when it was clear we were going to lose by 30+. I do not regret it at all

Yea that was a hospital ball/INT waiting to happen if not for a bad angle route. There’s a reason he didn’t make those throws v UGA. Defense and safeties had it covered up.

Positive: I thought we did have players - not as many as needed - that where fired up and played hard the entire game. I also saw frustration on a few - which was good as they understood we had to many blown assignments etc... Also, considering Clemson's front DC line - I thought the OL did fairly well.

On the negative - seemed the game plan was vanilla - also when we got punched in the mouth - we did not respond as we usually do. Normally we punch back - did not happen Saturday night. We had a lot of faces on the sidelines that looked overwhelmed etc....... Still to many mental errors.

I noticed in the first few TDs that Clemson threw, Klubnik used play action or his eyes to get the high safety to cheat to one side, then threw to that super fast freshman WR they have. Simple, fixable mistake by App defense that didn't happen against UGA because most of their defense is future NFL players.

The game was over at the seven minute mark which likely meant the gameplan wasn’t working. They probably decided to use the reps to work on the base stuff.

That actually brings a good, honest question….At what point did our coaches know it was over and switch from throw everything on the table, try to win to they obviously outmatched us, let’s go base and protect our playbook for the season.

I agree the game was over halfway in the first qtr…. Wondering if some of the score outcome was determined by us taking our beating and moving on.

The refs aren't even close to the reason App lost this game, but I did notice a lot of pass interference on those plays where the ball seemed to hit App receivers in the hands and drop. Clemson was getting away with keeping one arm around the receiver's waist while the other arm swatted the ball. Again, that wasn't why we lost, but we might've moved the ball a little better and Joey would've gotten into a rhythm if that was called.
