Greenwood Lot

We got bumped this year to Greenwood. I'm not sure if I'm happy yet or not...

Big issue: My mom tailgates with us and has a bad back and hip. Walking on flat ground is okay. When the grade goes up/down, it hurts her to walk a long way. Walking up Stadium drive from the Rivers St. deck was an issue...

I'm sure they run shuttles up there, but is there access to the back side of the west stands and elevator access? Our tickets are in 205, 2 rows up, so once we get to the stadium, we're good. I'm just worried about the hike to/from the stadium.

How bad is traffic getting out of Greenwood?

If your Yosef donation qualifies for Greenwood, you can request to park in any of the lots from $250 donation up to Greenwood. You could park in the Liberry or Rivers St decks for sure. The only downside to those is that they are festival parking (no numbered parking). There are also some who qualify to park in Greenwod who get moved to Raley based on Yosef points. I'd give Leigh Morrow at the Yosef office a call to see what can be done.

You're absolutely correct about walk to and from Greenwood. The good news is that there are steps down to the Champions lot and then pavement to the stadium entrance. I have a bad hip as well and know that would be a tough time for me if I was having a "bad hip day".

I'll let others speak to the egress and shuttle pieces.

Thanks for being part of Yosef!!!!

I raised my contribution as well and was assigned to Greenwood. I called and requested to remain where I have been and was told to return my passes in exchange for my old spot. While I'm a healthy, active 62 year old, I like to get about town, go to the bookstore, etc., before the game. I don't like the idea of having to go up and down several times to Greenwood.

I am in the lower part of Greenwood and prefer to walk down the stairs rather than walking back to the top of lot for shuttle. Getting in is easy, getting out to 321 or 421 takes some time. We generally cut through Mountineer apts. and go out the back way.

I was in Greenwood for several years. The tailgating is good up there. Going down the steps is not so bad. The trek up those steps after a game is another story. The shuttle picks up at the top of the lot and lets off at the east gate. Shuttle picks up at that gate after the game but it takes a long time to get back up because the traffic flow lets pedestrians exit the stadium first. Also I don't think they run multiple trips back to the lot after the game because traffic makes the trip take so long. If you want to get on the shuttle to go back up you have to leave the game a little early because it fills up. I did that a time or two when my daughter had surgery and it was easier on her to ride back up. Getting out of that lot is bad if you need to exit by way of River St. You can go out the back way to 105 a little easier most times. If you are going over to the Quinn for the club before the game, if you are lucky you can catch a golf cart from champions lot / tennis court area at the bottom of the steps which will take you all the way over. Chances are good you can get one if you have a handcapped person with you. Having said all of that, I like Greewood for the environment before the game. But I am in the River St deck now and for access and exit after the game I like it much much better. One thing I will say, when I was up there there seemed to be a lot of early exiters in that lot. So if you stay until the final tick and watch the BOD post game and take a leisurely walk back up all the traffic will be gone.

The steps at the tennis courts aren't that old and are still in good condition. I would use those. The other steps on the greenwood to stadium trails are not in nearly as good a condition and may pose a slip hazard for those with questionable stability.

They are proposing a connector road with Bodenheimer Drive and Homespun Hills Road which intersects with 105. The NCDOT has a meeting August 12th with the Watagua County Board of Commissioners from 3-5pm and then the public from 5-7pm. So if this goes through all right it should be much nicer getting out after the game!

Be nice if they would put a traffic light at 105 so we could turn left easier.

A traffic light is being installed at the intersection of Hwy 105 and Poplar Grove now. I was in Boone last week and they were working on the new light.
