Now that we know a little more as to how this App team might play their games this season, how are we feeling? Have any predictions or season outcomes changed in your mind? What are your W-L predictions coming out of Charlotte?
We'll definitely know a lot more after all Week 1 games have wrapped up at the end of the day, but what are your early thoughts on this App team before we get too deep into the season?
We'll definitely know a lot more after all Week 1 games have wrapped up at the end of the day, but what are your early thoughts on this App team before we get too deep into the season?
- vs Lindenwood: [W] If these guys stay grounded and humble, this will be an easy one. Lindenwood already lost their first game of the season under a coach who has a total of 8 wins over the past 2 seasons. Let's take care of business here.
- @ Southern Miss: [W] This could be a toss up of a game, as we don't really know what USM is working with just yet, but with a new coach that has a proven record of success at Marshall, this won't be a walk in the park. I still say we pull out a win in Hattiesburg.
- @ Boise State: [L] I'm hoping this is another toss up and that Boise's first game of the season wasn't just a fluke, but Boise is still a formidable team that we need to come ready for. If we see the Boise State from USF show up, we win. If we see Boise State get it together, we take an L in a tough Boise environment.
- vs Oregon State: [W] This one is unpredictable, as OSU wasn't anything to write home about last season, but with a second-year HC, they could definitely step their game up this year. As of right now, I think this is an attainable win.
- @ Georgia State: [W] I feel pretty good about this one. GSU didn't do much of anything last season, but this could be a trap game if we overlook them. Be ready to roll in ATL and we'll come out with a W.
- vs Coastal Carolina: [W] Time Beck hasn't done much to really shine at Coastal just yet, but maybe this is his year. Having said that, with this game at the Rock in mid-October, I'm giving App the nod.
- @ Old Dominion: [W] HC Rahne hasn't done much of anything in his first four seasons at ODU, so I have to think this will be an important season for him if he wants to keep his job. They'll be better this year, but I still think we walk away with a W.
- vs Georgia Southern: [L] I hope I'm wrong here, but this GS team has only gotten stronger each season under HC Clay Helton. They are coming off a bowl loss to SHSU last season, so we'll see how they rebuilt, but they'll be formidable, even at the Rock.
- @ James Madison: [L] Again, I hope I'm wrong, but JMU is going to be our toughest opponent on the schedule this year. Taking them out at JMU would be major, so don't count us out yet, but this will be a tough hill to climb.
- vs Marshall: [W] First year HC up against a first year HC, I like our odds here, especially playing at the Rock in mid-November.
- vs Arkansas State: [W] Butch Jones is a rollercoaster at stAte, but I feel good about this one, especially in Boone as winter is kicking into high gear for our final home game of the season. App walks away with a W and goes bowling.
