The Good, The Bad, and the Ugl- USM

Post by t4pizza » Sun Sep 14, 2025 12:31 pm

That was not the game that I was hoping to open conference play with.

The Good- It is really hard to find anything, I will try to be positive and go with Billy Wiles. Our 4th string qb goes 5/5 for 49 yards and 1 td in mop up duty in garbage time against his old team.

The Bad- turnovers again, this time it was interceptions. The offense moved the ball at will but 3 interceptions took points off our side and gave them points with the last int being a pick 6.

The Ugly- Another embarrassing conference road loss when the opponent has a black out. You know it is bad when the other puts in thier backups against you and that is exactly what happened. We are a sloppy, undisciplined football team that continues to make too many mistakes. This time our mistakes costs us a victory.

Good was the starting receiving core:

In the first half with QB1, Barnes had 89 yards receiving , Strohman had 58 and was breaking tackles and Cummings had 52. The drops came from other receivers, if I remember correctly. I could look forward to Barnes playing the next two seasons here (in a different era). He's a playmaker!

The Bad was leaving 24 points on the board.

The Ugly was that we could have been up 28-7 and looking forward to some rest, being 3-0 and creating some buzz within the program and instead we took a butt whipping, Swann was injured, as was Thomas Davis who has been making plays for us this season, and we have no idea if we'll be at the top of the conference or the bottom.

Good - showed what we could be on offense if not for INTs.

Bad - injury to QB1 and 2.

Ugly - D is a work in progress for a variety of reasons

Good: Billy looked like he knew what he was doing. Maybe he would have looked different if he had been in when Gillon came in. But I doubt it.

Bad: turn overs turn overs turn overs.

Ugly: penalties penalties penalties. The same penalties for three weeks in a row.

Hoping these guys and coaches get this all worked out. Remember Satt and Troy? The switch flipped.

Do we need a game manager style QB if we can get the oline healthy?

Looking back, So Miss was begging us to stay in the game. Even after Swann went down. I really wish we coulda seen what Wiles
Could have done with the game in the balance. Especially when it became apparent the game was way too fast for the true fresh. I get the logic of progressing the younger guy. But DLo needs to win the games he’s playing now.

Good-- Only 9 games left in the season and we have a much needed bye week.
Bad--There are way to many weak spots and obviously little to no depth.
Ugly--we might break into the bottom 10 after this week.
If they don't get it together during the bye week it's going to be a rough and short season. Not expecting a W in Boise but hope they can come out and be competitive and leave with their heads held up.

Good- we moved the ball easily.
Bad- Everyone is hurt. And the OL can’t block.

A good running qb hurt us. Not having a good running quarterback hurt us.
