Unfortunately, it was a year too late for two App football players that got the book thrown at them without their day in a real court.

Before this, lawyers were only permitted to be present in student court proceedings as inactive spectators (billable hours to do nothing). The worst part was the fact that criminally related testimony given by defendants in a campus trial is admissible in a real court room after the fact, essentially violating Miranda v. Arizona.

Now students are allowed proper representation in a venue notorious for trampling due process rights. North Carolina is FINALLY being progressive about something.

That is a significant change. I wonder of other States will follow and propose similar laws or if North Carolina will stand as the sole beacon of light.
