First half of opening games (2008-2013)

Unread post by skjellyfetti » Sun Sep 01, 2013 12:22 pm

We've started each season since 2007 by laying an egg in the first half.

2008: 31-0 (LSU)
2009: 27-0 (ECU)
2010: 28-7 (UTC)
2011: 38-0 (VPI)
2012: 14-3 (ECU)
2013: 16-3 (Montana)

154-13 in the first half over the last 6 years.
85-13 if you take out LSU and VPI. This is being destroyed by teams we should be on the same level with or better than (especially in the case of UTC 2010).

An improvement the last couple of years -- but, we were also very fortunate to be down as little as we were.

One, this gives me hope for the rest of the year as our ineptitude at the beginning of the season has usually been remedied to some extent.

But, my question is WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN EVERY YEAR? It is so frustrating.

When's the last time we've won a playoff game?

Extremely frustrating. I'm not sure why the team seems so unprepared to start the first game of the season.

And it sucks watching other teams open from the beginning strong..especially those that knocked off FBS teams this weekend..NDSU, Eastern Washington, Towson, McNeese..all came out ready to play and win. I was hoping we'd see the same from this year's App team. :|

Good info! We all like to wrap ourselves around the Michigan win to start the season but in reality we have more often than not started poorly.

With the exception of playing Liberty a couple of times over 10 years ago, we ALWAYS open the season on the road. I was hoping this year would be different, and before we headed out to Montana, we could've had a warm-up game under our belts. I really do think our players deserve to open up the season at home at least once in their four year careers. Maybe, that would help us get off on the right foot.
