Is it me...
...or are there a lot more people trying to sell their tickets on the MMB after this rocky 2013 start than in past years? Surly there aren't this many fair weather fans in our midst...

Maybe. But I've always been able to get good tickets from individuals for any game I chose. I've already got great tickets for homecoming with a parking pass.

Not sure, but based upon this and the number of unused seats in the east stands (hill was full). I don't believe demand has indicated a need for more permanent seating.

Re: Is it me...
I think we could add more seats just to have the ~5k people on that hill in actual seating, but you're right that every-game demand isn't sufficient to add seating. I do however think we should add seats for the purposes of higher profile games (homecoming/Black Saturday) because there is no where to even stand on the concourse it's so damn packed during those.Saint3333 wrote:Not sure, but based upon this and the number of unused seats in the east stands (hill was full). Re: Is it me...
Nice observation but really who cares.... when you count the regular posters on any board they are a sliver of the total fan base ...and when you deduct some of the more special posters , you can only deduce a casual impression of whats going on in the APP world.
Most things are obvious like; we lost two games to teams we can and should beat, QB is not ready for game yet, backup is playing better, Oline has issues from years of neglect, we have a young team, they will get better, when we do turn the corner it is going to be VERY EXCITING !!
Oh, and some people will jump off the wagon, go to the parking lot, stop coming to games, complain that we need JM, moving up is bad, blah blah blah... just go away
I see it this way:
How fast can we fix the problems?
And the future is still bright, IF we address the issues soon.
The people who want to leave, can leave...I am in this for the LONG HAUL !

Re: Is it me...
Bottomline is we SOLD over 25k seats and do not have that many physical seats. We have consistently sold (avg/game) over physical seating capacity for last 6-8 years. I don't think selling a seat on grass bank is a wise long term solution. We absolutely need more physical seats.

Re: Is it me...
That neglect of recruiting is not completely true. We recruited but did not get certain ones and we sometimes had too much confidence in the ones we did get or already had. In many cases it is harder to beat out other schools for linemen and linebackers than it is for skill positions. Most coaches know that linemen can and most often do, make or break the success of the backs. I've seen linemen open up holes that even I could run through.PhillyApp1 wrote:Nice observation but really who cares.... when you count the regular posters on any board they are a sliver of the total fan base ...and when you deduct some of the more special posters , you can only deduce a casual impression of whats going on in the APP world.

Re: Is it me...
I will be selling 4 of my tickets but it has nothing to do with our record so far. My grandson and I have season tickets but he is playing football on Saturdays . We will miss our next 4 home games. When he plays ,I am there. We will be up for WCU and make it to 2 away games.
If you have a need for 2 tickets to the next 4 Home games contact me. They are in Sec. 206 Row SS. $30 for both tickets.

Re: Is it me...
I am in section 215 east and the folks that have sat beside and in front on me for years ( never missed a game) were not there for home opener. I was shocked. Overall 215 was more than 25% empty. A&T folks and students spilled in after first qtr but that section is Yosef and is usually full. Most games I have to kick someone out of my seats. I really think it is bad if we are losing paying fans. The students packing the hill is great we need that too but the pictures I saw of the East side looked sad. Hopefully not a trend.Saint3333 wrote:Not sure, but based upon this and the number of unused seats in the east stands (hill was full). Re: Is it me...
Its not just our poor start that's going to keep people away, the economy, for the middle class and the poor, is not getting better, in fact, you can make a case that for the last 4 years, its gotten worse, alot of schools, including BCS schools, are seeing declines in attendance. Probably not the greatest time to make any major additions to the stadium, but definitely a great time to start planning and raising the capital.

As an example I have 2 season tickets and 2 TD Packages for 3 games. Those 3 games are for my son and his wife if/when the get to go to a game. If they can't come then I'll sell them.Gonzo wrote:...or are there a lot more people trying to sell their tickets on the MMB after this rocky 2013 start than in past years? We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

I wasn't trying to call anyone out and question their motives. I just saw a spike in ticket selling threads and wanted to inquire.scatman77 wrote:As an example I have 2 season tickets and 2 TD Packages for 3 games. Re: Is it me...
I think it had more to do with the opponent than an indication of a future trend. However, losing to A&T at home isn't a good way to keep fans coming. I'm sure a small percentage of the sour grape fans decided to not renew their season tickets due to the move up as well.appbio91 wrote:I really think it is bad if we are losing paying fans. And I've never understood why I can spot empty seats but see a packed hill.

I'm thinking that if we follow A&T the rest of the year we might see why they looked so good against us. They just might be better than any of our SoCon opponents.

Re: Is it me...
I might be wrong but I believe I saw a tiered ticket price schedule somewhere. Seats in "premium" sections cost more for walk ups. Could be that general admission ie the hill tickets are cheaper and if you are only staying until the half why pay the extra.ASU-FTW wrote:I think it had more to do with the opponent than an indication of a future trend. Edit: prime reserved is $5 more than reserved and general admission is not listed but I bet it is another $5 step down. That would explain full hill empty reserved seating.

Re: Is it me...
It looks like the ticket office shows the grass hill as "sold out" until the regular tickets are sold. The grass hill seats are usually (at least the last couple of years IIRC) the same price as regular adult tickets. My guess would be that folks who want to be on the hill buy the reserved seat they need to buy then go to the hill anyway.appbio91 wrote: Edit: prime reserved is $5 more than reserved and general admission is not listed but I bet it is another $5 step down. I do believe the economy continues to be a challenge for nearly every fan in some way, shape, or form. Regardless of what the media might have us believe, NC has been hurting badly since late 2008. Take a look in your town at empty commercial real estate. If it's anything like Asheville (which has fared pretty well all things considered), there's a bunch of empty space. If the stores / shops / businesses are missing, our fans will be missing, too. Business = jobs = disposable income = fans in the stands (or something like that

If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

Re: Is it me...
I'd say that a lot of the bank sitters had tickets to the stands and just wanted the bank seat!
I had reserved parking and just want to be in the LIBERRY Deck with my buds!

Re: Is it me...
Come on, Saint. Our attendance has far exceeded the official seating for years. Posts like this are just rediculous. We cannot continue selling grass tickets indefinitely. I know some folks love the bank, but we need the OFFICIAL capacity to be closer to 30. If your argument is financial, then you have a point, but to argue that there isn't demand is just not true.Saint3333 wrote:Not sure, but based upon this and the number of unused seats in the east stands (hill was full).
