Now, that didn't take very long, did it? Grambling has fired Doug Williams after just two (2) games. That's idiotic!

I thought folks knew me better than that! The firing of DW after only two games was nuts! The fools down there must be in charge. Only a fool would take that job on a "permanent" basis now.

quote from the published article ---

"This was the second stint as head coach of his alma mater for Williams, who played quarterback for the Tigers under legendary coach Eddie Robinson before becoming an NFL first-round draft pick in 1978.

He succeeded Robinson upon his retirement from coaching in 1997 and was 53-17 with three Southwestern Athletic Conference titles until leaving to take a job as a personnel executive with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after the 2003 season.

He returned to Grambling in 2011 and promptly won another SWAC title"

I posted this in another thread. I thought Grambling had better sense. They had a great program in the days before integration.

To add to the “silly season”, after the A&T win in Boone, coach Broadway’s name has been mentioned to fill the job!

He just left there a couple years ago. Why would he go back?

this was from the Greensboro News and Record... I don't think he willgo - I just found it funny that a win over us makes him the "next great coach"....

Rod Broadway's win over App State is probably at the very least a lot of extra money in his billfold.

Maybe a slightly more timely question, under present circumstances, is why did Doug Williams go back? Apparently he wasn't aware that you just can't go home again. I guess TWolfe wasn't on Williams' college reading list. ;)

I seriously doubt Broadway would go back. While at Grambling, he originally turned down the A&T job, but then people at Grambling got upset at him for even considering it, so six days later he took the A&T job.

It would be a step down IMO to go back. He's on the rise as a coach and will probably could get a good top-level FCS job in the next year or two.
