Does yesterday sting, yep. Has this type of season occurred before, yep.
1984 - Sparky went 4-7 in year one
1993 - Moore went 4-7, lost to A&T w Satt's 1st start at QB
2004 - Moore 6-5
The next year App won a minimum of 9 games. Every ten years or so this happens. This will make us hungry this offseason. While I'd like to avoid these types of seasons, I'm glad the wake call happened in our last year at this level and not the first year at the next.

Andy, you're exactly right. I watched us out of the locker room yesterday. Our guys looked like they were walking out for practice. I've also watched A&T and Charleston Southern celebrate wins against us like we were Michigan. There's definitely a contrast between how we're approaching games vs the aporoach of our "underdog" opponents. We're missing that hunger.

Very good stats and observations, Andy. None of us like 1-3 starts but we have to understand that "spit" happens. I challenge anyone from any one of these threads to say that the team and coaches are not preparing as hard as they possibly can for every opponent. We all can be down but not out; persecuted but not abandoned and I will not abandon the Black and Gold! We're spoiled brats (so to speak) and losing hurts. It won't last long; the "W's" will return!

Thanks, Saint. I'm certain that none of our players or coaches are pleased with the season so far. If they enjoyed losing, none of them would be where they are now. Mountaineer football will be fine ... maybe not this season ... but soon.

I am so sick of watching opposing teams celebrate on our home field. I can't imagine how the players feel about it.

The proof will be in the pudding--Let's see what THEY DO about it

Maybe SS is jinxed against A&T?
Seriously, the erosion began several years ago. SS's first two years are on the prior regime, for all the reasons: Bad hires, Bad recruiting- Bad Apples and evaluation, Injuries, etc. I don't care how many championships a coach has won, but he or she should never be allowed the right to hang around as long as they want and have the program rol down hill. It just takes too long for a rebuild to take place. It's a crying shame in APPs case, because of where the program was on top of FCS to now losing to Big South and MEAC teams.
Not only will this slide effect the whole spectrum of the program, from recruiting, to building a competitve 85 scholarship team, to competeing for a conference championship, much less becoming bowl eligible. Just think of the financial support, attendance at games, and even the economy of the High Country is next to having the effects of NAFTA on the area.
There is a lot riding on SS being successful, and everyone, and I mean everyone should be behind him getting things put back together. It will require patience.
