I'm sorry, but...

I've grown really tired of coming on here and reading nothing but complaints about the football team this year.

Yes, we may not be doing stellar this year but we're also not losing by monumental amounts. Montana was not a good game, we know that. We should have won the A&T game, but we didn't. Okay. We won Elon, so there's a win for the conference schedule. We lost against CSU.

Okay, that doesn't look great, but you know what? It's not the end of the world. We still have the rest of the season to pick it up and take it away. We may or may not do that, but even if we don't, does it suddenly mean we can come on here and talk total **** about our team? No.

Through thick and thin, we need to support this school. It sucks to say this, but every season will not be a winning season. There will be growing pain seasons, and this is one of them. Does it suck to lose? Of course. Does it mean we are a terrible school with a terrible team? No.

So, on that note, let's leave the negativity at the door, focus on beating The Citadel this week, and prepare for a bright future.

Even more annoying might be the "yup, those fans are not REAL fans like ME..." guys.

I'm trying to just maintain a level head more than anything. I mean, it's not like we're Western or anything.

I assume that I am one of the ones you're talking about. I would like to point out that never, not once, in any post where I talk about mine or my family's history with App have I ever compared myself to another fan or even implied it. I was pointing out that I have seen the good and the bad for over 45 years. My parents, aunts, uncles, and various other members saw much more than that. When I say I'm a Cradle to Grave Mountaineer that's just a statement of fact. When I say I don't have another college program anywhere that I pull for it's another statement of fact. I have never nor will I ever compare myself to another fan or question their motives or their support. I'm only talking about myself. If you took it another way then I'm sorry. It was only meant to express my feelings and support about the school, not to compare or call anyone out.

I've said many times that I spend hours a day looking for recruiting information and that I do it for the fans on this board. The only times I've said anything like that was in a direct response to a thank you from someone on the board. Again, not looking for anything, just a fact. To be honest most people who know me think I'm nuts for doing it. I happen to know they are right. :D

I've also tried to be level headed and truthful in my posts and I've been called a "Positive Polly" and various other names because of it. I've quit posting on Rivals because I've been slammed for trying to find some positives. And my rate of posting, outside of the recruiting threads, has dropped off. Maybe it's better if it does.

I've never meant to compare myself to anyone on here or say I'm a better fan. I'm not. I'm just a fan, period. No better or worse than anyone else. If ANYONE took one of my posts as such then I ask you to please send me a PM and I will personally apologize.

Come on MOOSE, those of us who know you, know you are INCOMPARABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also many of us know how much work you do to keep the "faithful" informed with recruiting and other matters - Some of us have been name-called for years by those who get their expertise from playing Madden Football or watching Jon Gruden - like you, some of us have actually played and coached the game --- WE APPRECIATE YOUR EFFORTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanks WV. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew I wasn't chest thumping when posting about my history and to apologize to anyone who did. I never intended for any post of mine to come across like that.

It's funny. I've had 25 family members graduate from App with some form of degree, either undergrad or masters, with two more here now and more in the pipeline, 2 for spring. What does that mean as far as fan support. Not a thing. We support just like everyone else. Does it mean anything else? Yes it does. It means my family is mostly hillbillies and rednecks (even the side from the SC flatlands turned once they got here) who have given App A LOT of tuition money over the years. :D

God bless your family of Mountaineers! We should all be so fortunate!

Actually, you... I like you.

I'm not naming any names and honestly don't care who is who. I just hate the attitude more than anything. All fans have WTF moments.. you're lying to yourself if you don't think so.
