Another Player Quits
Word is Paul Magloire has left the team.
Seems that nearly 10 have left since the beginning of the season.
Lots of guys believe the coaches don't seem to care about them at all.

Interesting, eye brow raised.
It's been stated by many that the players seem to not have any spark. Just saying.

Re: Another Player Quits
He hasn't changed his twitter heading or App background yet and none of the players are talking about it so far. He's still listed on the roster for now. He was asked 20 hours ago who he had this weekend and replied "Citadel wbu". The only post that could indicate something is from 15 hours ago.
Paul Magloire #⃣2⃣0⃣ @GUWOP_2
YOU have to do what's right for YOU nobody else
If it is true it's not all that much of a surprise to me but only because I follow him on twitter and I've seen posts from him talking about missing home. He was recruited from NY as a QB and we all know he was converted to a RB. With Cox breaking out he's not seeing playing time and Upshaw has a similar running style, although he's got the shirt. I wish they were using him as a change of pace back since Cox and Fergerson are similar players and I think it would be good to have a bigger back for short yardage but we're not doing that so far, just like last year when Frazier wasn't brought in.
I hope it's not true and he stays but if he leaves then I wish him nothing but the best.

Dropped:
Tysean Holloway RB
Frank Crawford DB
Austin Fowler WR
Mo Gore WR
Will Smith ILB
Chris Shaffer OLB
Andy Shuler WR
Added:
WR/DB Trey Anderson
OLB Dustin Anderson
DB Dylan Clayton
I haven't added Magloire yet. I'm double checking right now to see if these are the only ones.
UPDATE: I've double checked the roster and we're still at 108 with Magloire still listed. No one has been added or dropped since my last roster update. I check 3 or 4 times a week to make sure. I'll keep a watch on Magloire's Twitter and the roster and will post anything important.

Heard some stuff that could explain why. No use in posting because it is stuff we all suspect may be happening any way. We need to accept that there are going to be growing pains for the next few years at least.WataugaMan wrote:Interesting, eye brow raised. It's been stated by many that the players seem to not have any spark. I didn't know Gore was no longer on the roster. Did he quit or was there something behind?

I hope this won't end up like Jerry's first year. I think we had 30 or so players who quit. But I think most of those quit during spring practice.

247 reporting that he has quit and they have a statement from ASU confirming such.

Re: Another Player Quits
What seems to going on in a lot of cases is that old "human" thing that plays out every day in every walk of life. You've seen seen me refer to this several times over the years and we're probably going to experience it several times over the next two years.
It's hard to coach and play a player you didn't recruit. It's equally as hard to practice and play for a coach who didn't recruit you. Coaches form allegiances with the players they recruit; and vice versa. The others just sort of fade into the background as schemes change and new players step up to the challenge. Those who, for whatever reason fade into the background begin to feel cheated and left out of the big picture. Then they either leave or hang around with a chip on their shoulders. It's pure human nature.
Fast-forward 12 or 15 months. The UNC-BOG will name a new chancellor at ASU. At that time, we'll have a chancellor who didn't hire Charlie Cobb; and Charlie will be reporting to a guy who didn't hire him. That'll make for some potentially tense meetings. It's not unusual at all for a new chancellor to want "his pick" in such a visible and important leadership role. Charlie could be on the bubble at that time.
Fast forward a few more months. Should we end up with a new AD in 2014 or 2015, we'll have a full staff of coaches the new AD didn't hire. That can cause a big upset of the apple cart. Again, it's just human nature. Just hide and watch!

Magloire has been added to the "Roster Updates" thread and here in the edit. As far as Gore he is still listed in school. Doesn't appear to be going anywhere.firemoose wrote:Since summer here is the list I've compiled in the "Roster Updates" thread.

Re: Another Player Quits
AppMan and I were discussing this just a few days ago. It will be interesting to see what/if any changes are made by the new chancellor. That's exactly what happened to Laney. When Bork left so did so did Laney's safety net.asu66 wrote:What seems to going on in a lot of cases is that old "human" thing that plays out every day in every walk of life. It is tough when you have been "the man" most of your playing days and now you are competing with others just as talented as y.ou. Some handle it better than others.

Re: Another Player Quits
Nice post. College life a long way from home or not is a lot different. Throw in the stress of a major sport and is it not surprising that a lot drop out. Playing a sport in college is a job. Whole different world than high school. This happens a lot of places and to a lot of players. Its why most rosters/redshirts are heavy in underclassmen. A ten percent drop out rate maybe high for us but think its probably normal elsewhere and the normal drop out rate for freshmen not playing sports is or was much higher.asu66 wrote:What seems to going on in a lot of cases is that old "human" thing that plays out every day in every walk of life. Thinking we will need to hit the JUCO pool anyway, just maybe a little harder now.
Re: Another Player Quits
you mention collage sports is really a job, reminds me of a power forward that played at my high school, he got a full schlorship to play basketball, didn't last 1 year before he quit, said the reason he left was that the school he attended treated the program like a business and they had taken all the fun and joy out of playing, felt like he was going to a job everyday instead of playing basketball.

Re: Another Player Quits
At this point, kids that need to leave should be helped and lets play with the best we have.
We will have more in this coming 18 months. Nothing wrong with it. It happens to most if not all colleges moving up. Marshall was brutal and we know how their fans reacted.
I wish all the players well. Its time for a gut check for them, and US as fans.
I am a MOUNTAINEER now and will be years after this adjustment is made.
