Here's something about Kameron Bryant from Southern Pigskin:

"Sophomore quarterback Kameron Bryant has shown excellent decision-making and taken care of the ball, leading the conference by completing 69 percent of his passes."

I'm not sure I agree with the part about taking care of the ball, however.

Not entirely true. When you throw one of those int's into triple coverage in OT, one can hardly call that taking care of the ball.

He also can't throw the deep ball...but i would like to see our offence get back to completing short passes all over the field and running after the catch..over the past few years we have leaned on the deep ball

Is he getting time enough to throw the deep ball? I've only seen him twice, so I don't know.

He can't do it. That is why Satterfield took so long to make the switch. Go back and listen to post game first couple losses. Even before the first game I remember his comments about Kam were he needed to work on throwing the ball down field. Having criticized Kam I will also say he has looked excellent throwing the 8 to 10 yard curl or slant type routes. Especially when we go hurry up. It is beyond me why we don't do more of that. It kills me to watch them drain every stinkin second of the play clock almost every down. I think I remember Scott saying Kam makes better decisions when they slow it down though.

Someone posted the other day the biggest reason we are losing this year is the QB transition. When I read it the first time I thought it was bunk. But the more I consider this I believe it is true. He doesn't distribute the ball very well, can't throw long and at times puts too much air under the ball setting receivers up for the big hit (see Malachi in Samford game). But again I think he can win and has done very well given the circumstances.

The deep ball throws require better performance from our OL. Kam has all the tools and just needs a little time to fully settle into the starting role. The coaches slowed our offense down after the CSU game when we left our D on the field for 42 minutes. The next week we were running the play clock to the very end.

He's a great kid and a great QB. I think the injuries from the Citadel game affected his longer passes last week. That was not normal for him. He has the arm strength to throw lasers.

He's going to be great for us, we need better OL DL play and we'll be back on track.

Even when Jamal was 100% he was not a great weapon in the read option, but was a huge weapon in the passing game.

Since the injury he is neither - and that set us back from the moment we took the field in Montana, period, end of discussion on that.

Kam was never the deep threat passer that JJ was, but I believe can be - I watched him his entire HS career. That being said, since we now no longer even have much of any deep threat receiver (sans Price), I say we keep to the slants, short passes, curl routes and get Malachi more into the game.

I believe Kam can manage a collapsing pocket better by being more timely with the decision to run.

That's what made AE so deadly. He knew exactly when to run and because of his impeccable timing he turned a lot of losses into big gains.

Kam Bryant absolutely has ball security issues. He has already fumbled twice on our first series. He needs to get better at holding in to the ball

question for anyone who can answer, I have only seen Bryant play a couple of times, and he seems to put alot of air under the ball, starting to wonder if his arm strength is strong enough to be the starting qb next year in the Sunbelt, thoughts?

The sad part is that SS should know how to pick and train a QB, if anything.

I think it open auditions for QBs next year...and defensive backs,...and defensive ends... and offensive linemen....and wide receivers.......etc.

I know it won't happen and probably shouldn't, but take the RS off Lamb and give him a shot.

He recruited one last year and two for this year. My guess is next year's starter hasn't seen the field this year.

I was thinking the same thing. Coach needs to go into camp with the idea that every position is up for grabs.

K Bryant will be holding our back up QB's clipboard next year(2014 3rd string). This kid just isnt a D1 QB. Doesn't have a big arm. Not super elusive and has fumbling and hand off issues. You cant win consistently with the lack of tools.

He was 32-40 for 307 yards. It's hard to pin the blame on him. Though I agree he does need to handle the ball better and make the effort to go north and south more.

This team is not going to be successful if we try to put together long, sustained drives. We are not fundamentally sound enough to do that without a turnover or a stupid penalty.
